Well you've waited 3 years but the answer is sadly yes it does.

I watched this last night after not seeing the film in about 15 years. Probably the last time I saw it was on Laserdisc! Boy I forgot how hit and miss this film is. Some things work brilliantly as satire (Like the whole "I Love Mallory" sit-com) and other things just don't. Some great performances are unfortunately buried in the chaos of the editing. Personally, I'd like to see a straight adaption of the original Tarantino screenplay.

Default Just a bad one?

Has anyone picked this one up lately? It was at the lowest price a few days ago so I picked it up from Amazon. When it arrived the disc art was completely different than what is on the back of the J card and what I've seen in unboxing videos. On top of that it was missing a disc, there was just an empty panel with a place for a disc to go with nothing in it. Has anyone had any issues with this one lately? For the record, it wasn't 3rd party.

I really want to double dip for this but I need to know if the song "Burn" was restored to the end montage before the credits of the theatrical edition?

Never caught this in theaters or on laser so I didn't even know that song change happened. I do recall that video being on the VHS, not sure if I still have that tape though.
Also never dipped for the Diamond Luxe as I don't care about the theater cut anymore.
A new featurette means one disc got some work done though, I would've bet the same old discs for each cut. Hopefully someone can answer you though.

Unfortunately it was not. On the 25th Anniversary Diamond Luxe release, neither of the cuts has "Burn" during the pre-credits montage, and the "Original Uncut Version" Blu-ray I have also doesn't have it. I actually forgot about that version, and I'm tempted to look for my VHS to see what version that has.

The Warner Bros. VHS had Burn during the montage

Just from spot-checking: yes they seem to be subtitled. The main commentary track seems to only have Korean subs, though, for some reason. If there's anything specific you want me to check, let me know.

I prefer soon, if NBK gets released again in a new bluray/4k, it has the N.I.N. song "Burn" back in the end. Or else I'm not buying it again.

Was "Burn" only on the director's cut VHS? I had the VHS for the theatrical cut and I remember it being the same song that's on the blu rays. I thought I remembered it being on the director's cut DVD too

Does anyone know why "Burn" was replaced? Wasn't it written and recorded specifically for the film?

Watched the director's cut from US disc on the other night and it looked much better than I remember. Although, pretty low bitrate with VC-1 codec leave me with hope that one day it ultimately lead us for 4K mastered treatment from OCN. Arrow perhaps?

I actually prefer Leonard Cohen's "The Future" over the pre-end credits anyway. It just fits and has the right rhythm to match how the picture moves. Plus the lyrics are even more twisted than Burn, which while a good song, is just too chaotic for an end piece IMO. Burn should play after it when it's just the credits rolling, that would be perfect music placement for me.

I'm sure I'll get ripped for this but that is just how I feel. The Future sticks in my head every time I hear it or even think about it (like right now). Burn doesn't.

All the Cohen tracks are well placed. I read producer Jane Hamsher's book Killer Instinct on the making of NBK. She was a huge Cohen fan and the The Future came out during production to which she made Stone, who was unfamiliar with Cohen, listen to it. He took to the album so much that three tracks from that album were made prominent in the film.

I lo-o-o-ove the way the film uses "The Future" and "Waiting for the Miracle", but I think my favourite would be Tommy Lee Jones scurrying away from his rioting inmates as "Anthem" soars. As much as people enjoying dragging Stone through the mud, there are moments in his films that scale heights the vast majority of filmmakers wouldn't even attempt to reach.

To wit, the theatrical cut of JFK is probably the fastest three-hour movie I've ever seen; yet it contains both the longest and the second-longest monologues in film history. Kind of beggars belief.

It's a fun read, a bit gossipy at times. Alot more candid and informative than the docs on the special features.

The Future has never played over the pre-credits sequence. From the Trimark VHS director's cut on, Burn was replaced by a tribal sounding drum instrumental over that sequence. The only version on home video to ever feature Burn was the original Warner Brothers VHS and LaserDisc release. However, The Future has never been replaced by anything regardless of the release or format. It has always started in the exact same spot and is always played over the closing credits regardless of the cut or format.
