I'm going to wait and see on the rebate offer. If I can buy this for say, $24.99, then it has a $10 rebate, I'm in.

My purchase all depends on the price. Although it'd be nice to have the IMAX version of Into Darkness alongside the comprehensive special features, the movie itself had very little replay value for me.

I try to plan months ahead for all the Blu-rays on the horizon.

The ones I know are coming---CA: TWS, X-M DOFP, Guardians of the Galaxy, Enterprise season 4 etc.

The ones I hope are coming---DS9 season 1, X-Files season 1, Trek original movies remastered/Directors cuts, Spartacus 1960 (upgraded)

The ones I know are coming--but when?----King and I, Seven Brides, Abyss

And always something comes out of left field.

I was absolutely sure they’d never release the IMAX version of STID and here it is and I have to have it. So I would have just rented it last year and then bought this this set--IF I had known but I didn’t---- so I’m not gonna cry about this double dip---especially since the deleted scenes are included as well.

My kids are at the age where they may move out soon and I guess one of them will be taking my current Blu-ray when that happens.

Ditto on waiting for the rebate. I had REALLY believed they weren't gonna do anything with this release and bought the Target exclusive version. And I while I happy that they did do this for people who really want it just hurts me. Mind you I could probably sell off both of these and get the money back for it...

I also got the Target edition.
I wouldn't have bought the set if I knew that this was going to be coming.
It depends on how the rebate will work as to when I will get this. I still haven't watched my Standard Copy once I heard that the Image was Cropped so bad.

Wow. I feel lucky: i bought STID on eBay for ten bucks as a blu ray only. I I resell it now and get 7-8 dollars that'd be a nice wash for the time I've had it. If I sell my ST2009 for 10-15, then I'm spending 20 bucks on this as an upgrade, well worth it, since this is essentially a "JJ Set." I do like these films, flawed as they are - and they are.

Why no 3D? Come on Paramount, if you're going to do a complete collection, do a complete collection.

It isn't a Complete Collection though.
This only has the IMAX version of ST:ID, not the Standard Version.

I don't have 3D (although I wish I did) and I am going to buy this day 1, but they should have included the IMAX 2D, IMAX 3D and the 2.35:1 version in the set.

But I want the IMAX changing ratio so I'll be happy until such time in the future when I have a 3D TV--if ever.

Funny they always forget something... This set needs IMAX 3D. The 2D will still look fantastic though. I can't wait.

And I really don't want to spend money on the first film. Now if Into Darkness was released separately with the 3D version and IMAX versions (honestly we should be getting a 3D IMAX version too) plus all the extras, with a rebate for those that purchased any of the previous releases of Into Darkness, then I would be interested perhaps. But as it is, though it's a nice set, it isn't for me.
This 100%.

Actually, I think I'll just wait for the inevitable trilogy set in 2016.

I must be confused, I apologize if I am. I was under the impression this had all the missing features and yet still had the films + the IMAX release. I'm sorry, my mistake. Still, I wonder why they just didn't include the whole kitchen sink? Put everything out, ya know? It's not like it isn't going to sell.

Yeah I don't know what compelled them to include the first film. It should have just been a redo of the Into Darkness Blu-ray. It could have been the ultimate edition, with 2D, 3D, 2D IMAX, and 3D IMAX, and ALL extras, with the rebate program. That would be perfect.

I don't think the rerelease needs the standard version on BD as the scenes aren't different in terms of content, just the picture size is different.

It's like wanting The Dark Knight and The Dark Kinght Rises to have fixed aspect ratio versions seen in conventional theaters. If you want the conventional version of those films too, go with the digital and DVD versions (I would guess the rerelease of STIR will still have the standard digital version). But definitely Blu-ray deserves to have the IMAX versions when possible if only one version can be presented.

I think the first film is being included to justify reissuing the 2 disc BD of the first film with now a larger bonus set for the second. After all, the 3 disc Combo for the first film has been out of print for much a while.

I feel that this should be an ST:ID only release, but the "Uber" version of it.
Everything that I listed in my Special Features post along with 3D IMAX, 2D IMAX, 3D, 2D, DVD, DC.
Plus some even more new special features, with also an Extended Cut!

Why not just reissue both separately?
