The only CBMs worthy of perfect ratings are Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Sin City, and Spider-Man 2. Don't have the patience to go through and rank the rest, but I'll say that Ang Lee's Hulk, X2, Man of Steel, Iron Man, the first two Captain Americas, unrated cut of The Wolverine, and V for Vendetta are also close to perfect.

Some people would disagree but I would say even films that are universally acclaimed have some flaws. There is no such thing as a true masterpiece, I simply give 5/5 ratings to films that do everything I want them to and more. I imagine most are the same way.

If I watch a movie once (or twice) and can't really find any issues with it, it's a 4/4 for me, which is rare. The four movies I listed as "perfect" fit that category; even after seeing each of them several times they hold up (except maybe TDK, which tends to drag because I've seen it just north of 835 times).

TDKR is a trainwreck in general, but even if Batman is a secondary character, Wayne at least gets a good amount of screentime. I don't hold TDK being a crime film against it, CBMs can adapt the tropes of other genres and still be CBMs/superhero films. Batman Returns is MUCH more about its villains than TDK is, and never gets even half the crap for it that TDK does. Hell, does Batman/Wayne have even 10 minutes of screentime in the first hour of Returns?

Oh, I forgot about Scott Pilgrim, that would definitely make the "near-perfect" part of my list. Deadpool could also be in contention with a rewatch.

I don't see how anybody can give V for Vendetta a low or middling ranking like I am seeing here from the occasional post. Seriously?

For example, even Toddly who gave it a B+, which is great, has it below Ant-man, which boggles my mind. Ant-man is a fun film, but it comes nowhere close to touching the quality of V. Just an example, not meaning to call you out Toddly. V is an unbelievable adaptation.
