Yeah, they're kind of goofy, but they're a ton of fun with lots of energy and some good dancing bits - it's hard to be cynical about that!

Enter the Ninja -
Franco Nero as a Ninja, battling an evil CEO and his ninja assassin? Brilliant stuff!

Revenge of the Ninja -
The followup to Enter the Ninja with Sho Kosugi as the Ninja this time who swears off his ninja was when his family is murdered, only to take up the sword again when his business partner turns out to be a ninja assassin.

Ninja III: The Domination -
You think the other two Ninja flicks were crazy? Fine - how about Ninja genre flick mixed with The Exorcist with a hint of Flashdance? Yes, it's completely ****ing nuts.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 -
Despite being an exploitation studio, Cannon did very little slasher flicks (especially past about 1982 or so) - which really make's Tobe Hooper's TCM flick stand out. Mind you, it's more Dark Comedy than slasher, but it's still pretty good!

Invasion USA -
While Cannon is the House that Chuck Built, this is probably his best work with them. Great action, loads of explosions, murder and mayhem left and right - a perfect Christmas movie!

Runaway Train -
Despite being producers of Low Budget Schlock, occasionally they managed to produce art. Runaway Train is one of those rare instances. If this flick came from any other (read: more respectable) studio, it would have been hailed as a classic.

The Last American Virgin -
One of Cannon's lesser exploited genres - the teen sex romp comedy. The film is a remake of the Go-Go Boy's wildly successful (in Israel) Lemon Popsicle series. Great soundtrack, goofy sex exploits and a hell of an ending that you wouldn't get from a mainstream studio.

Delta Force -
Chuck Norris and Lee Marvin (the manliest team-up in the history of film) bring Freedom to the Middle East by blowing up every goddamned terrorist in sight with a motorcycle covered in rockets. AWESOME!
You raising Ninja 3 as "crazy"?

I see your Ninja 3 and raise you - 9 Deaths of the Ninja. Now that is crazy (not sure if its Cannon though!).

Are all the extras on the U.S. DVD release on the German BD release? I just went region free and am thinking about paying the little extra to get the German release but i don't want to miss out on any extras.

That's a good question because the US back cover states 25 minutes of deleted scenes, whereas the German edition only has about 10 mins of those. That said, when most editions came out they were still working on clearing some of these deleted scenes so it's possible there is a lot more on the US DVD (I hope for more Dolph on MOTU notably)... Hope to find out in reviews of the US disc soon.

Thanks for the response. I am trying to decide if I keep my pre-order for 9 bucks at Amazon or import the BD. I wonder if we will have an answer before the DVD is released?

At the Philly Ritz ( Landmark Theaters) One day only screening, free t-shirts and posters Three other people in the theater none probably old enough to see a Cannon film when they first came out.

Getting close to release day and still trying to decide whether to cancel it or get the German BD. Anyone heard any words on extras to compare the two? I can't find any reviews of the DVD out there yet.

If anyone gets the DVD in, can you check the disc and confirm what the final extras were. Still wanting to see if there was anything different from the German BD. Thanks.

It's just the Deleted scenes and trailer montage on the disc. one of my favorite docs of the years.. and they say truth isn't stranger than fiction ... I reviewed the disc yesterday

Apparently the 25 minutes of deleted scenes are erroneously announced on the cover and rather 15 mins, so it looks like it's the same as the German edition...

Regarding BLOODSPORT not being in the final cut (but seems to appear in the deleted scenes), Sheldon Lettich spills the beans:
Quote:
I talked a lot about Menahem and Van Damme and Bloodsport when Mark Hartley interviewed me on-camera for the documentary. In fact, I told that same story about Menahem and Leon and Van Damme. Mark told me he had put together an entire segment about Bloodsport for the documentary, but at the last minute there was some kind of a legal snafu involving the rights to Bloodsport, and the lawyers at Warner Brothers told Mark he had to yank the entire segment. Really a shame. Bloodsport was one of Cannon's biggest surprise hits, but there's nothing at all about it in the documentary, except one very quick shot of Van Damme throwing a kick at Bolo Yeung. Who knows, maybe Mark will manage to sneak it in as a special feature on some future Blu-ray?

We looked at the "Deleted Scenes" on the "Electric Boogaloo" DVD, and the "Bloodsport" sequence is there. It's something that's really worthwhile for Van Damme fans to see.

I have the DVD coming in from Netflix. Looking forward to watching this. No matter how the documentary is, you have to admit it has some kick-ass cover art!

Despite the fact that no Wal-Marts in the area are showing this in stock, I'm going to look for it. Thanks for the heads up, Hubunkey.

Anyone pick up the 10 movie pack? I did from Best Buy in store. They didn't have it out in the South Philly store, but I checked their inventory and they got it for me from the back. I have every one of the releases on blu that have been released already, and I thought the collection had way too much Chuck, but I watched The Hitman and was pleasantly surprised. I thought it was the archetype Cannon action film.

The Wal-Mart app is showing that most of the stores in the area will be carrying the DVD, but all of my stores are in the middle of reseting all the movies, so actually finding a copy would be a total crapshoot. I'm just gonna wait till the reset is over. I don't feel like driving all over the place to only come up empty handed.
