I have a Pioneer PDP-LX5080D.......Wow. Originally had a Sony KDL 46W2000 but found out to my cost it could not hadnle 24 frame true cinema signals, dont fret, the newer series can. Very happy with the Pioneer.

Sony KDS-50A3000 SXRD 50" (1080p/24, 120fps). Awesome TV! Pioneer plasmas are really nice though. If I were a wealthier man I would probably grab one of those new Kuros! I doubt 1080p would make much of a difference to you, especially on a 42" screen.

Default 55" Hitachi Plasma 720P/1080i, 32" Vizio LCD 720P/1080i

55" Hitachi Plasma 720P/1080i, 32" Vizio LCD 720P/1080i

Edit: I NOW HAVE A SONY 52"XBR5 bought it last december 07' at my local Hifi Buys for $3500.00 it was the display but it looks and performs like new, sold the 55" Hitachi Plasma 720P/1080i, in February 08' for $2000.00 so it is like if I just trade it in and pay 1500.00 more. I'm a very happy owner of the 52XBR5!!
