I agree that the score is fantastic! I have 3 vinyl releases of the music from the first film & I"m hoping N2 will get a release eventually.

I sold my Barrel dvd's so need to buy the bd's soon.

I knew the vhs trader who was the very first person to import Nekromantik into the U.S. He bought the PAL video from Jorg who threw in a 7" pic disc record as an extra. My friend then transferred the tape to NTSC & sold dubs to a few close traders who traded it to everyone else in the tape trading circuit. The original video has very small subtitles that were barely readable.. I would imagine there's a few people here who may have known this individual who lived in Kansas at the time...

You may be able to catch the plot seeing just the sequel; but if there films interest you then you will definitely be missing out if you don't see the first one - it's a unique intense horror / arthouse film.

Interesting. I really enjoyed the first one due to it's rough around the edges mix of romance, true sick to your stomach shock value and artistry coupled with an awesome score.

I've just watched the 2nd for the first time and found it tiresome. It's in dire need of a tough new edit, the score is now repetitive and the romance and gore just comes across as a poor copy of the first. What it is is a more polished film, but IMO that actually detracts from the atmosphere of the first. I will pay it some complement though, it's got some great black humour in there, like
[Show spoiler]when he finds the severed penis and scrotum in the fridge, looks a bit confused at what it is then grabs his package and sort of winces.
. Maybe it would have worked for me had it had a lot more dark laughs.

Both of these films are on Shudder. For 4.99(1month membership) you can watch these films first before you plunk down a bunch of money. Shudder is a great service for not having to blind buy and be disappointed. I bought Demons 1 and 2 because of this service. They have lots of obscure older flicks.

Necrophilia is the most underrepresented psychiatric disorder in cinema.

There are so many of us out there.

...yearning to come out of the shadows.

We deserve to have our stories told.

Lol

To be serious, though, think of all the morticians, medical examiners, and pathologists out there that could have this disorder. It would probably be surprising as to the number. Also, is necrophilia a disorder? Or is it a different kind of love making?

I agree. Because of you guys, there are folks who get more action after they've passed than they did while they were living. You guys are humanitarians.

No kidding and there are so many opportunities for them... I mean after a small stint in a mortuary I saw a couple cute bodies.... it was an unique experience overall.

I have it written into my will that after I die, I want my corpse donated to a special underground cult dedicated to necrophilia.

They call themselves The Sons of Rigor Mortis.

Twice a year they get together at secret locations around the country and watch Weekend At Bernie's and have large orgies.

Only they're desperate for fresh...well you know.

If there's one confused young man out there who could benefit from my sacrifice, then it will all be worth it.

...I never really liked the idea of being buried anyway.

I love Weekend at Bernie's. Nekromantik not so much.
