Thanks.
3D on par with the Jurassic Park 3D conversion? If so, then the trailer is accurate, strong 3D. The 3D in JP1 is some of the best I've seen up until the final act when it dips down a bit.

Also, Cinemablend's 3D rating system gave it 5/5 for beyond the window (I would have gone a bit lower cause they go somewhat conservative in dialogue scenes, but they are right about wide shots of the park having very impressive depth) but 2/5 for before the window (as it doesn't take any real advantage of pop-outs). And I think they are pretty close in this case, even though I've disagreed with a couple of their ratings before.
Thanks for the info.

One thing I've noticed, at Cinemark, some larger theaters seem to have diminished 3D effect, while some of the smaller screens have seemingly stronger 3D. This happened with Jurassic World's trailer. At the large screen, the 3D looks medium to high medium, but in the smaller screen theater, possibly with a newer 3D projector, the 3D looked strong all the way in the same exact trailer.

I was surprised, but can't rule out the possibility that even though I'm sitting in the same general seating row in the theater, maybe the size of the screen makes a difference? I'll say the screen size shouldn't matter, since I've seen Imax's theme park looped screen (curves around the theater) with the most amazing 3D I've seen in my life where fish are literally inches in front of your face. It probably boils down to the projector and its possible calibration. Both were shown in Real D with the same Real D glasses.

3D experiences are variable. Was the trailer with the big dino jumping up and having visible pop-out viewed on the same screen as the "actual movie"? If the pop-out information is retained in the 3D encode, calibrated home Blu-ray 3D setups will be able to recreate it.

I don't recall many many 3d movies cheating like that just to save on the budget. My memory is a little fuzzy, but most 3d trailers match exactly with the 3d on the final film imo.

Regardless of the 3d debate, I'm beyond excited to see Jurassic world in imax 3d tonight! I think the 3d is going to rock everyone's socks off!

Just back from seeing it in IMAX 3D - the movie is awesome, loved it and I'm going back this weekend, it's the most fun I've had in ages watching a summer blockbuster. The 3D is good but no strong pop-outs, that said when I saw the trailer before Mad Max Fury Road, also in IMAX 3D, I didn't think that the water dino popped out that much then, after reading comments saying it did here. That scene in the movie was exactly the same as in the trailer.

Enjoy the movie and 3D! I'll try to think of a few if I get a chance, where the trailer's 3D looks better than the movie's 3D. Okay, just thought of one.
Pirates of the Carribean: Stranger Tides. The trailer had high medium to strong 3D and the movie? Mild to medium 3D most of the way. At least from my experience seeing it in theaters. I hope that's not the case with Jurassic World.
Tigermoth mentioned JW's 3D may be on par with JP's 3D. If so, should be awesome.

Nice! It would be cool when you get a chance, if you had a review on your 3D site about it. With placeholder art for the blu ray 3D, if not already planning for it.

can't say I was completely wow'd by the movie on the whole, but technically the 3D (via IMAX-laser) looked great.

The director has tweeted that he felt IMAX laser is the best 3D presentation he's ever seen.

I already think IMAX is better than Real D, but I'm getting a bit tired of waiting for IMAX laser in NYC (seriously Lincoln Square was the first IMAX to be 3D capable and is the biggest movie screen in North America, yet they've been showing things windowboxed in IMAX digital for a while now and it is disappointing, even when the presentation is usually excellent otherwise). I was talking about doing a weekend trip with a friend in July to DC to see the Nationals ballpark and some museums, and maybe I'll tie a showing of Terminator Genysys in IMAX Laser (I hear the Smithsonian museum has it) in there.

only the Air & Space museum in Chantilly Virginia (near Dulles Airport) has the laser system. FYI (and yes, Terminator Genysys is slated to play there).

Even then I think the 3d in stranger tides is on par with the trailer. I remember being disappointed with the 3d in Stranger Tides when I saw it in Imax 3d opening night (along with being very disappointed with the film itself in theaters, but finally giving it another chance made me warm up to the film even if I still had issues with it lol) and when I finally watched the film again in 3d at home (thank you Disney movie rewards points for the 3d combo pack!) And I was much happier with the 3d and thought it's aged well, especially for a natively shot movie. I thought it had very consistent medium depth the whole way through and the sword through the door pop out is still marvelous xD

Anyway I gotta agree with the guy here who said Jurassic World is one of the best times at a summer movie in a long time. My Imax 3d showing was sold out and people were laughing and cheering! It was just so infectiously giddy and the 3d is another top notch conversion from stereo D. It was high medioum to frequently strong thoughout (I'd say it's on par with the masterclass conversion of the original Jurassic Park, even if it's just a teensy weensy less poslished lol). And they did NOT change the watersaur popout at all from the trailer, and it's still one of the best 3d moments of the movie and one of the best popouts ever period. The 3d did a terrific job immersing one in the world of the Jurassic and they even had lots of raptor and indominus Rex snouts protruding out of the screen I thought. They even had some great 3d flinch moments with claws reaching toward the screen making you feel you were going to get eaten lol! Also that long take of the indominus rex chasing Owen with the camera right behind the indominus's scary feet is one of the best 3d shots of all time imo. Super deep and immersive!

And before I turn myself blue from gushing about the movie and 3d, I have to mention that 6 minute Imax 3d preview for ant man has me dead sure that it's going to be a huge hit and the 3d is going to constantly amazed. It's just wonderful and the movie is funny with a capital F. Seriously, I think it's just as funny as the original iron man!

My theater was sold out tonight and when that trailer ended I actually heard groans and one guy cursed at the screen. Needless to say the vibe was not a good one for Ant Man.

oh I know that - I was just referring to the DC area IMAX Smithsonian theaters that have three in three different museums. The remaining other 15/70 screens (in DC proper: i.e, downtown) will be upgraded at a future date - I'm really looking forward to Natural History's screen's conversion since it's the largest of the three.

The realD 3D theater in my area has 14 3D showtimes for Jurassic World 3D today in stark contrast comparison to only 7 2D Jurassic World showtimes. This is looking good for 3D enthusiasts.

Thanks Mseeley. Sounds really good.
A six minute Ant Man 3D preview? Cool. I remember they did that for GI Joe 2 3D and the 3D was awesome (4 minutes of strong 3D).

It depends on the audience, as for the regular Ant Man trailers in the theaters I've seen it at, the crowds laughed during the funny parts, so they understood what Marvel was going for and enjoyed it for that (in the trailer) rather than just wanting another regular super hero and dismissing everything different.

While it's important to also offer 2D shows, I'm glad they're offering plenty of 3D options.

Well I have yet to see the movie myself, going this afternoon, but I have listened to the entire soundtrack. I found it to be another great score by Michael Giacchino.

The musical score of a movie can definitely intensify the movie's scares and action, I agree.

4 times? Nice. Is that a personal record? That was the most I've ever seen a single film also in theaters. Going to check it out today.

Wow, that is a record. Nice! Jurassic Park is a great classic and even better in strong 3D.

PREVIEWS: 3D trailers before Jurassic World 3D (medium to strong 3D)
Minions 3D: High medium 3D.
Everest 3D: High medium to strong 3D. This will look great in 3D.
The Walk 3D: Strong 3D. If this is filmed, it could be awesome 3D.
Terminator Genysis 3D: High medium to strong 3D. Can't wait.
The Martian 3D: High medium with strong 3D too. 3D looks great.

Jurassic World was a fun movie to watch most of the time, and wasn't afraid to let a good number of people get eaten. The end was perfect IMO and brought a key dinosaur into the fold that I was sorely missing throughout most of the movie. It's a dinosaur you wouldn't want missing from a Jurassic Park movie. I really liked that water monster too.

The 3D in Jurassic World was really good, at times medium, but mostly high medium with some strong 3D in there. I sat upright this time, and it makes a nice difference to amplify the 3D effect versus sitting slumped against the seat at an angle, which actually can diminish the 3D from my experience. I'll still give the lead to Jurassic Park's 3D, but this is really good.

The water monster shot looked great and was the best pop out of the movie IMO. I can't believe what happened to that one character there, but they didn't hold back.

I saw this today in Imax 3D and I was sadly not impressed. The movie was just OK. it had some good moments but I thought the script was absolutely terrible and none of the characters were engaging. I had a strong sense of seen it all before with this one, it's a shame as I wanted to enjoy it. That said the 3D was superb and there were some really good visual FX (and plenty of not so good ones).
