I'm trying to cut down on catalog title purchases, especially if you can get them on Vudu or AIV. I know that's not going to go over well, but I just can't let my collection get much more out of control, so I can live with streaming for movies like The Sure Thing.

However, that isn't an option here, and I'm a sucker for this film and I want to buy it. I'm not the type who holds out for $5 prices before I buy a catalog, but $13.99 for a new release catalog seems about right, maybe even a bit less for titles like this one, so I must hold out until the prices drops.

I wish Shout had licensed VALLEY GIRL instead. Frankly, I'm surprised this film still hasn't made the jump to HD. Unless its one of those movies that MGM wants to release themselves, it seems like there's something holding up a Blu-ray release. Maybe its music rights. Whatever the reason is, it annoys me to no end that I don't have it on Blu-ray.

Can't wait for this. Love this movie, a true classic of the 80s imo. Now if someone would just release Just One of the Guys.

am I the only who always felt that parts of the last episode of the Wonder Years royally ripped off this movie?

It would be killer to see Valley Girl on blu with the original music all in there.

Miracle Beach would be amazing! I haven't seen that one since the early HBO days.

I remember returning the DVD to Best Buy many times. Every freaking copy was defectived! So I didn't own one of my favorite films again until this BD release.

Anyone know how the Shout release compares to the German Blu-ray?

The German version probably doesn't have the extras from the Shout. Like the Scandinavian and Japanese Studio Canal releases which are extras free as well.
