Ah, I see now (looked it up on Wiki), wow I don't even remember that movie at all and I was in college and a movie-watching-fool when it came out, LOL! I'll fix the list. Thanks!

No. I grew up in Knoxville though, and my family had season tickets to Neyland, which pretty much sold me on the Vols forever. I have a bachelor's from Texas Tech and currently attend Creighton.

My mistake, when I looked at the T in your avatar and saw the comment about orange I was thinking University of Texas, but I forgot that they have a longhorn on their helmets and not a "T". I went to Texas A&M and traditionally UT was our big rival (which you probably know since you went to Tech), thus my comment about going to the "other" school

I was kind of guessing you meant A&M, but I thought there was a remote chance you were referring to Alabama as being maroon instead of crimson. Welcome to the SEC though.

Another nitpick, Resident Evil: Damnation and Not Born to Be Gladiators are probably safe to put under the "confirmed as native 3D" category since they are confirmed as 3D animation movies by their YouTube trailers. I doubt any of the 3D CGI assets will be captured in 2D and then converted. I suspect that Norm of the North and Holly, Jingles, and Clyde will be 3D CGI too since that is the trend with new stereo 3D animation.

More updates:
The Mortal instruments has been delayed to re-write the script with a new goal of spring/summer 2013.
http://www.cityofbonesmovie.com/2011...-cassie-clare/

IMDB changed The Briar Lake Murders to just Briar Lake and now lists it as 2013.

Comin' At Ya! 3D was restored by Drafthouse films and will have a limited theatrical release in Texas theaters Feb. 24, 2012 with a BD3D coming later this year.

House of the Damned will begin filming in native 3D in late march. IMDB currently lists it as a 2012 theatrical release.

Pretty sure I spotted Spy-Kids 3D on the German version of Amazon the other day. Slated for an April/May release?

Was John Carter really post converted. Before Star Wars there was a five minute scene from the film in 3d, and it looked as if it where not a conversion (with that being said given enough time and money there is little to no difference). I'm just surprised.

Agreed. I would have guessed it was all shot in 3D if I didn't know beforehand. It probably helps that most of the movie is set in front of a green screen, so they can use native 3D CGI for backgrounds and alien characters.

I cannot wait to see John Carter in 3D. Really want to see it most in IMAX 3D, which I bet will look spectacular like it did I think when I saw the trailer in 3D at Imax when I saw Underworld in Imax 3D. However, may check it out first at El Capitan in Hollywood to see the props and costumes from the movie that will be displayed there

Just found an awesome-looking upcoming 3D movie, Empires of the Deep, that apparently has been in post-production limbo for about two years and may or may not find a worldwide distributor.

It's an underwater action-fantasy movie with amazing costume designs, starring Olga Kurylenko as a bodypainted mermaid. Apparently, it has a $100 million production budget and is being co-produced by Chinese and American investors. It was filmed with 3D cameras, and Anthony Arendt, the virtual camera operator from Avatar, is said to be the stereography consultant.

I see "The cabin in the woods 3d"

I could have swore that wasn't 3d. Are they going to release it on blu-ray in 3d only? There are no showings of it in 3d to be found anywhere at the theater.

Doing some research it looks like the 3d was scrapped

Yeah, at one point The Cabin in the Woods was supposed to get a conversion, but it never did. Then a different distributor picked it up and decided to just release it in 2D.

If you look at Amazon sales, you'll see that DVD is still by far the best seller, followed a long way behind by Blu-ray (the format is still struggling way behind) and then 3D Blu-ray. Now the Blu-ray/3D Blu-ray sales can interchange depending on the movie and whether its triple play etc.

Puss in Boots is a good example of how 3D Blu-rays sales can be occasionally better than 2D
Blu-rays if the film is a well known quality 3D movie. Whether all buyers have a 3D TV or are just future proofing is unclear. Look at the results though....3D Blu-ray sales seem quite healthy.

Puss in Boots
DVD ......Amazon Bestsellers Rank: 8 in Film & TV
3D Blu-ray......Amazon Bestsellers Rank: 182 in Film & TV
Blu-ray......Amazon Bestsellers Rank: 207 in Film & TV

I'm not saying that this is a definitive survey, just a bit of a guideline.

As a companion to this thread we could start a topic doing this too, in order to get a rough idea as to how 3D Blu-rays are doing overall. Any takers?

Gae

So has anyone seen the 3D trailer for Life of Pi? It looks amazing in 2D to me. I predict Ang Lee will take home all the 3D awards this year if he used realistic 3D volume.

I think this film got a bad rap. I actually enjoyed it, and the 3D was pretty nice at times to look at. JOHN CARTER is one of those movies where it looks like they did specific camera shots just to throw out some awesome 3D effects.

Agreed. I blame the Disney marketing team though. With better marketing, I think they could have appealed to a wider audience. The movie istelf is solid entertainment.
