Box Office Magazine predicts a $10.5 million opening weekend. HSX has the number at $12.6 million, and Box Office Mojo has yet to post their predictions.

Well, that will be a $.5 million profit after the $10 million Super Bowl ad.

Money well spent!

(Will still watch the BD3D, and will still probably enjoy it.)

I loved every second of this. It was complete bonkers. I wonder how they make the actors 10 feet tall. Its the opposite of LOTR.

The Warcraft and Independence Day trailers looked nice in 3D.

Gods of Egypt was fun, agreed.

I go to see movies to be entertained above all else and this hit the goal. It's definitely not going to appeal to those who are counting flaws every step of the way unless they find that entertaining in itself.

3D Previews;
Captain America Civil War 3D: High medium to strong 3D
Independence Day 3D: High medium to strong 3D
WarCraft 3D: High medium to strong 3D

XD 3D Cinemark (XD comparable to Imax)
3D in Gods of Egypt:
3D Layers: Medium to high medium 3D layering most of the way, some strong 3D, almost no mild 3D.
3D Pop Outs: Almost none. When there are particles, they stay behind the screen. This was slightly disappointing for this style of movie.
3D Framing: The tops of the heads are framed in view most of the time, which is important for 3D. Some shots look awesome in 3D.
3D Total: 8/10 Very good 3D, with some strong 3D shots that look great.

I went in with an open mind, not worried about the concerns with the unpolished CGI, knowing CGI isn't the only thing that matters in a movie. Gods of Egypt is a fun, entertaining movie in my opinion and fast paced with good action, monsters and fights. Fans of movies like Clash/Wrath of the Titans, Conan, Jason and the Argonauts, The Mummy, etc may like this. There are flaws in the story, but it doesn't break the movie's entertainment value. I just caught a 3:45 3D showing. This movie, is not good at all. I defended this film, thinking it would be a dumb, fun adventure movie. It's actually the opposite. It's just plain dumb, although I laughed unintentionally a few times, not fun at all, it's just plain boring and forgettable.

Trailers:
Independence Day: Resurgence
Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice
Deadpool (green-band)
The Choice

The 3D is pretty good with medium to high medium throughout.

The 3D is very good, though one criticism would be the lighting in the movie is based on natural lighting many times, so when it's night time or in a dark room, the contrast is low, resulting in dimly lit characters. That doesn't happen too often thankfully.

My favorite 3D shot would be of the line of people in the underworld heading towards the judgment weight scales to see if they'll get through or not. It was a perfect strong 3D shot in Gods of Egypt, where the line started near the camera, then went far into the screen, with the head of each person another layer inward, till reaching the light further in.

The movie as others suggested, earned 14 million or so opening weekend in the US against a $140+ million budget. Worldwide: $52,200,000 so far. It'll need to make $300 to maybe break even if theaters get a big cut.

Yeah, this was pretty bad. A couple decent action scenes and some good jokes, but mostly a big ol' mess. Worst, stupidest part for me had to be Ra. Why is it that when the father of all the gods transforms, he just turns into a bigger old white guy on fire? So, so stupid. Some of the visual effects were clearly incomplete. One shot of a flying chariot had the chariot obviously animated below 24fps even though it wasn't a slo-mo shot.

The 3D was pretty good, though more pop-outs definitely would have been nice (and suited the material). There were a number of fairly noticeable conversion errors, though, and other places where the depth just didn't feel "natural." Conversion was credited to Legend3D and Southbay Motion Picture Technologies, a company I'd not heard of. Their website implies they've previously worked mostly on Chinese films and Chinese-exclusive 3D conversions.

I watched this on a IMAX 3D screen , I did not notice any scene that was too dark.

Here is a Accurate Quote from a reviewer that i mostly agree with ...

Quote:
Gods of Egypt is really fun. It offers a ridiculous amount of nutso fantasy entertainment. It’s full of insane imagery, go-for-broke action beats, and outright wacky fantasy filmmaking that feels unbound by the need to be plausible.
http://www.forbes.com/forbes/welcome/

(He also mentions that Lionsgate will not lose money if the film makes 50 million domestically, which might be possible.)

This is a Fantasy book style ..... CGI heavy ...... pure fiction film with "morphing entities" that will polarize a lot of viewers , that's what your getting.

This film will test your imagination.

The strength of the 3D is medium to strong with plenty of depth, The close ups bring the whole picture a few feet in front of the actual screen. I looked at the screen without the glasses on a dozen or so times during the movie and the screen was very blurry every time.

I just read that the UK theatrical release has been cancelled and this is now going straight to DVD.

I just hope they aren't stupid enough to forego a 3D blu ray too...

So which is it? If Proyas himself has said it's coming to UK theatres in June. Where did you read the UK release was cancelled?

It was in a few papers this morning (The Daily Mail seem to have it in for this film) but the denials came quick so it looks like it is now coming out in June, phew...

Daily Mail are just bandwagon jumping I reckon. Yes I'm very glad this seems to have a UK date scheduled now. Just hope they release it in 3D and don't cut corners.

Good to hear it'll still get a UK release to earn a bit more anyway.
Levcore, if you were entertained by Legend of Hercules 3D (as I was), I think you'll like this too.
