I'm willing to order YuYuYu with Denki-gai-style packaging. Maybe I'll like it, and maybe I won't. Regular Blu-ray cases are kind of dull, but there are some nice packaging options in the same general size. I haven't had problems with NISA's big boxes (and I've now got less interest in NISA's releases after the packaging change, since the artbooks aren't as nice).

I would love to get this series but I refuse to support the Japanese price structure here in North America.
I was thinking that we're getting Denki-gai for about half of the price of the Japanese release, since I was expecting the Japanese discs to be about the same price (I was stupidly expecting ¥7800 discs for some reason, but really shouldn't have been for this series), but with only two episodes each, instead of the US's four. That's not quite the case, since the Japanese release is 6 discs for ¥5194 each on AmazonJP (still including Japanese sales tax); that'll total about $260 after conversion and before shipping, whereas PonyCanyonUS's release would total ~$216 at their "discounted" price.

Their pricing is tolerable. I'll have to be rather excited about a title before I purchase it, but that applies to everyone's releases, really. I own several sets from NISA and AoA, whereas the often lesser a/v quality from Funi and ADV has had me skipping most of their titles even if some of them were ones that I enjoyed via streaming or fansubs... If I really enjoyed something, I won't want to see them compromise on quality, even if they're only charging 15-25% of the price of the Japanese release. This sucks. ;_;

Heck, if I _really_ enjoyed a series, I probably imported the Blu-rays from Japan whether or not they're english-subtitled. <sigh>

On the bright side, you get a bit of a discount bundling both together:

Still not worth it for me though.

I pre ordered that bundle cause it looks like you get 2 extra gifts with purchase plus the 2 already being given for preordering them so I can't wait to see what it is

If you sell the "additional bonus" then it's cheaper

Yep. If you go to either individual page, it says

Depending on what they are. Honestly I said I wasn't going to get these releases due to the price and the packaging but I can't pass up Yuki Yuna and the 2 extra gifts were enough entice me to get the bundle with Denki since I wanted it to begin with.

It makes be mad because this.

Contains episodes 1-4 and that is it. It would be more tolerable if it at least had 6 episodes but 4. So that is 4 Volumes at $71.98 = $287.92. I really wish there was a weeping emoticon right now haha.

I'm sorry, if you are like me and want both shows it'll be $71.98 x 8 = $575.84.

God the Japanese really know how to milk it don't that. They could have easily done 6 episodes and charged $55 for each. They are still making a good amount of money. And making it semi affordable.

Oh I agree fully. Hopefully they consider price drops for their next releases and even more hopefully for subsequent volumes of these two shows.

Huh? What the heck, madlost... you went from "no friggin' way" a page and a day ago, to ordering the two set bundle today??? Just for a few mystery trinkets? You're acting like an anime collector....!

LOL not so much but they did help. I saw the cover for Yuki Yuna and I couldn't resist myself. Its a show I really want to own and the cover threw it over the top. Since I also wanted Denki I figured what the heck might as well get some free stuff in the process.

Haha, ok... oh man, I think I'd be totally embarrassed to own an anime with artwork like that Yuki Yuni... Junior high school girls?

So like, are most of you guys on here still in high school or your early 20's that makes stuff like that appealing to you, or are most anime fans truly pervy otaku like other people say they are? Maybe I'm hanging with the wrong crowd, lol... or maybe I ought to buy it too...

I'm 25 but I've always been a fan of magical girl anime and anything like it (if you take notice in the pics of my figure collection they are mostly female characters and a good amount of them are magical girls). Its more the fact that I like to see strong female characters kick some ass then anything else. Nothing pervy about that at all. In fact even in anime with sometimes extreme fan service it all just goes by as more of a humor thing then anything else for me. Even in video games if given the option I always play as a female. Buy in and enjoy.

Yeah no, my post above was only in jest - just teasing everyone a little. I also love the strong female type, that's why I like the girls with guns genre so much. It's just that since I'm an older anime fan, the cute young girl anime doesn't really interest me much, unlike a serious anime with older characters does. Perhaps in another 10 years or so, once I start approaching "dirty old man" status, maybe? Haha, I suppose if I would buy those now I could say that I was "investing in my future?"

And that's actually funny you said that about video games - I always play online games as a female character too...

haha yes....might as well come into the fold GwG. And it doesn't make you a dirty old man.
Like mad you really don't notice that fanservice that much. I mean look at most of my anime. Wait don't look at most of my anime. And as much as it pains me I ordered this stupid double set too. Stupid Pony...I hate you.
