I don't. I want the not gay Alan Scott back. Along with the likable Jay Garrick. And a Doctor Fate that is actually bad ass again.

I also want Darkseid to be back to who he was and not some dumbass farmer.

Gay Alan Scott has been awesome. Darkseid's New 52 debut (JL Origins and then E2: World's End) and his current return are awesome. Not sure what you guys be smokin'. Jay Garrick has been awesome in E-2, in fact I would have named him the true leader of the JS over Scott (pre-World's End).

Dr. Fate's full story has yet to been told. Let's see how everything unfolds.

Isn't that a kinda sexist thing to say?

Secret Wars was between one universe. This is Earth X, S, 2, Kingdom Come, etc counterparts/versions fighting one another.

I guarantee some of the favorites from the pre-Crisis are going to be re-installed.

Theyve already tinkered w/ Superman from his 52 Version.
He is probably talking about upcoming 2015 Secret Works. Where the Marvel mutliverse are colliding and fighting amount themselves. Leading to the 616 and Ultimate Universe to collide to become a new one with a mix of both Universes (minus history changes).

No, because Alan Scott is supposed to have children, Jade and Obsidian. He can't exactly have blood children if he is gay.

And I'm quite certain it is impossible for Alan Scott to have children when he was gay right from the start.

The problem is not that DC made a character gay, the problem is that they made an already established character gay just for the sake of making them gay. They made him gay because it was edgy and got them media coverage. Just like why they made Wally West into a ghetto Static Shock.

How about creating NEW characters to be gay or ghettorific instead of ****ing up the old ones we have known and loved for decades?

Alan can have children and be gay. Its just gimmicky.

And im sick of the comic industry doing this. Painting heroes Black or Gay or even Girl Thor is lazy. DC & Marvel have plenty underestablished Black heroes that need better representation, yet theyll make Heimdall, Alicia Walters, Johhny Storm, Iris Allen, etc, Black to appear multi-cultural. Its just a cosmetic gimmick, and neglects the established characters that are sitting on the shelf. Or just create a new character.
On the otherside, they did a great job w Black Manta in the latest JL+Aquaman film.
And Black Spider in Assault on Arkham was very good example of highlighting an underused character.

What bothers me isn't the fact that we're seeing more diversification among established fictional characters (that's a good thing!), but the uproar over said characters' heritage and sexual orientation. These characters have gone through several revisions since they've been introduced, but only when skin colour and sexual preference gets revised the complaints start to pop up, typically among white straight males who feel like someone is taking their possessions from them, and like it or not, those complaints are both racist and homophobic.

That's because changing their race changes who they are. Wally West is supposed to be this upbeat Flash fan who has loving parents and is from a middle class family. He is NOT supposed to be from the hood with dead parents with a chip on his shoulder. DC wants a star black character? Well they have Batwing, Static Shock, Icon, Mr Terrific, Black Lightning, Vulcan, Wasp, Steel, Bronze Tiger, Black Manga, etc. There is no reason to change someone's race.

I am tired of all of this rule that in order to be a super hero your families have to be dead and you must have been raised with poor upbringings.

But most of these characters aren't the same as they were before, that's what the Flashpoint effect did, it changed the DC Universe, and the characters appearing there in the New 52, after that event, are NOT the same as they were before (just like the characters in Flashpoint weren't the same as they were in the old DC Universe). It's basically a clean slate. No one has taken anything away from you. Those old characters still exist in the stories that have been told, but this is a paradigm shift, this is changing things up. You may miss the characters you've built a relationship with, but it's not up to you to decide what happens next.

One could argue that Superman is different now as well. His upbringing is different, his traits and attitude are different, his values differ a bit as well from the pre-2011 relaunch. He's not the same person but he doesn't get the same flack as Wally West because he's still a white, straight male. Your arguments just don't hold water in this case.

What if Blade was a gay, white male that hung out in Australia? Would that be an acceptable change?

If it serves the story they want to tell then I don't see why not...

I totally disagree w/ the anything goes idea for the mythology. Upgrades and revisions are made all the time.

I think the fans react when something goes too far or seems cheap, and the companies take heed when they know its not working. How many DC events have there been to adapt to the time, sell more books, and clean up continuity mistake made?

BUT, I do like Iris on The Flash TV though. I'd prefer the traditional version, but their take is fine. And I dont forsee her putting on a costume or anything to crazy.

Totally agree Batmon, even though I'm not much of a comic reader, when I learned that Iris West was gon'na be played by Candice Patton, it didn't bother me cause it's a creative option the show took, the actress brought what she can to Iris and made it her own.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there a MEGA uproar on Nick Fury's heritage bein switched?

Now if a character like Peter Pan, Pinocchio had their heritage switched from Caucasian to African American, plenty of fans would be upset.

Heck some fans are having mixed feelings bout Marvel possibly using Miles Morales (Ultimate Spider-Man) in Cap America 3: Civil War.

Nick Fury was switched for the Ultimate Universe. Miles is Ultimate.
The MCU is a blend of Ultimate & the regular universe.

I dont get too mad at TV and Movie interpretations.

if u wanna get technical/picky....NO WAY is Wolverine 6'3". He's more like Danny DeVito. His shortness is part of his character. But..hooray for Hollywood.
