Not only did he listen and respond to my issue in a professional manner, he followed through, investigated, and eliminated my concern.
I forgot to post the other week, but I still have my DVD of it and it did the same thing as the blu-ray. Cool Scream checked it out and got back to you about it.

This release is going out-of-print soon now—I've wanted to see The Outing for a long time, so I ordered this disc from Shout Factory's website last night (along with their X-Ray/Schizoid double feature, which is also going out-of-print).

In a bit of a coincidence I had just watched this double feature like 2 weeks ago. I'd watched The Outing years ago upon purchasing the disc but never bothered with Godsend at the time. This recent viewing I just did the double feature and enjoyed both. Neither is particularly memorable but I'm glad to own the disc nonetheless and will revisit both again in the future undoubtedly.

So, this is more of a personal story, and possibly not interesting to anyone else, but where else do I share about such an obscurity?

For years, I remembered seeing a horror movie set in a museum. My dad let me watch it when I was likely FAR too young probably 6 or 7. But he had recorded it, and I know I watched it a handful of times, at least.

But, based on my extremely vague memory, I didn't have much to go on. No title, no actors, nothing but my main clue (which, ultimately is incorrect) was that it was a mummy movie. Well, later in the film the Djinn does briefly animate a South American mummy, but hardly qualifies this a "mummy movie". Which is why I couldn't find it using that term.

Desperate, I resorted to searching the only other details I could remember: "museum horror movie" (yes, sifting through dozens of hits for another fav of mine came up instead The Relic), "specimen jars" (filled with snakes), and "nudity" (Tracye Walker's boobs left a vividly clear impression on my little brain).

All of that finally did lead me to The Outing/The Lamp, and it all seemed to fall into place. I've been eyeing the Shout Factory release ever since, but hoped for a better discount, or streaming appearance, assuming it would not hold up very well. Now that it is sold out at other retailers, I thought I better jump on it before it's OOP. For some reason I just couldn't let this one go.

Just finished watching it and honestly can't believe how little it resembles my childhood recollection. Besides the mummy, the snakes, and the boobs, virtually NOTHING rang any bells. Usually rewatching movies from this era triggers all sorts of stuff to come rushing back into my brain. I can't believe I didn't remember the Djinn at all. I've always been obsessed with monsters! Maybe I thought it was just the mummy somehow? I do remember the guy having his fingers bitten off. And I kinda remembered the red jewels on the lamp/bracelet. Oh, also Danny Daniels' character did stick in my brain with his blue "scientist" coat.

Anyway, I think it's interesting what imagery our minds hold onto. Even after not seeing something in like 30 years. I mentioned having clearer images of other movies I watched as a kid, but admittedly I keep watching those, so the memories get periodic updates. But the poor Outing was sort of lost to the sands of time.

Grabbed a copy of this while it's still available at a reasonable price. Never seen either feature, but I'm particularly excited for The Outing. Looks like a pretty fun post-Freddy supernatural slasher, the trailer makes it look like an undercooked precursor to Wishmaster. Hopefully it's dumb and cheesy, that's how I like 'em!

Interesting choice for a new remaster. I wasn't impressed by this film on first viewing a little while back.

Just finished watching the new The Godsend release from Kino. I remember watching this back in the 80's and liking it quite a bit. Watching it now, i don't think is as good as i remembered it. An entire family kids are wiped out by the evil child and the parents acts like nothing happened? I am a parent, God forbid i lose a child, i'll be devastated...

The mom only breaks down after the third child dies lol. The dad is like, whatever. We have three more. Then two. Then....well. It's a downbeat film with interesting themes that I actually enjoy but the film ends without any of the mystery being revealed or resolved. I mean, why is evil Mom being dispatched to wipe out entire families? We're left janging.

I had the old Shout double feature Blu but got rid of it when I heard about this reissue. I don't recall if that old BD looked any good since I watched it so long ago but this new disc looks quite good. If it's an old master, it's certainly one of the better ones. Nice and filmic, strong colors and good clarity.

Nice to have a standalone edition of this admittedly strange film looking good with a nice slipcover.

I just noticed the Kino version is the 86 minute cut, while the Scream Factory release has the 92 minute cut.

Great catch. I was just about to pass my Scream copy on to a friend. Looks like I'll be hanging on to it.

Was this tested by putting the disc in to see what the time was or what was printed on the cover? Wondering because covers have misprints all the time and it's best to check the disc. Edit: The Kino site list 93 minutes.
