Would like to correct the aspect ratio specification listed as 1.78:1 on the German release. The film is actually 1.77:1, leaving two very small parallel black bars on the 16X9 screen:
(Listed correctly on the French release Détails sur le produit .)Snapshot-2015-07-08 at 08_13_14 PM-1229017460.jpg

I had completely forgotten that I ordered this movie. It showed up today. I have my wife's great niece and my great grandaughter over spending the night so I'll probably watch it Sunday evening after they are gone home. Anyone with impressions please post as this is a blind buy.

Thanks for the thread bumps, this had slipped off my radar. One weird thing, Amazon.de showed this at 20.83 Euros, but at checkout it went to 17 Euros. Don't know if I caught it right at a price change, or what. This should be a good time, looking forward to it.

Assuming you live in the States, the price difference is they remove the tax during checkout.

Watched this with the wife and kids cause the movie content was not bad at all (no nudity or cussing). As for the movie, I am glad to agree with others who gave this movie a solid review. Picture quality is excellent and it appears that they shot this movie a bit brighter than normal (for 3D) and it looks beautiful.

The story is also very good and I enjoyed it from beginning to end (even though it is a long movie). There is humor in this that the kids liked very much. As they always do when they find a scene they made the bust out laughing, I was asked to rewind each of those scenes about three or four times. There are some excellent pop outs also. If you like Terry Gilliam style movies, this one fills in very nicely. This turned out for me to be one of the best blind buys I ever made and I highly recommend it.

I agree but i must take issue with you calling it a long movie. The end credits start about an 1 hour and 45 minutes in, that's hardly long, if anything that's a short movie!

I had a very busy day then hurried home to watch the movie. I think my body was just reacting to slowing down. There are times when a movies can seem long depending on circumstances like that but I'm not complaining cause as I stated I liked the movie very much.

I know what you mean and agree. the first hour of this is action packed with loads of crazy sequences but the last 45 minutes are much slower paced I found.

Can anyone who has the German disc confirm if this is a dual-layer (50gb) or single-layer (25gb)? Just want to be sure.

The German Blu-ray 3D was authored on a single-layer (25gb) disc with Bonus Material on the separate PAL region 2 DVD.

Watched this last night. Excellent 3D! The story is entertaining, but it does drag just a little bit here and there. Special effects are spectacular. Good characters. The creatures are extremely unique and inventive - they are actually eye-popping! There are several pop outs, a couple caught me by surprise.

The English DTS Master Audio mix is immersive, but I found the LFE a little weak, but when it did erupt, it had a "muddy" sound on my 7.4 (4 x Butt Kicker) system.

Movie: 3.5 out of 5
PQ: 4.5 out of 5
AQ: 3.75 out of 5
3D: 4.5 out of 5

Recommended for all 3D fans, but keep in mind the German release is region B locked.

That's interesting that you found the low end to be on he weak side. I didn't notice it being that way but since I'm looking forward to seeing this again, I will pay closer attention next time. I give the picture quality a 5 as well as the 3D.

I just felt that the low frequencies (subwoofer channel) was fairly conservative most of the time, but when it did crank it seemed bottom heavy too me. But that just might be the way the Butt Kickers respond to the subwoofer channel (which activates it).

Aside from that the entire presentation is a fun trip! Glad to have this 3D BD in my collection.

Finally received this today. Did anyone notice the pamphlet had advertisements for Wyrmwood 3D and the new Town That Dreaded Sundown in 3D. I wonder if both of these are cheap conversions.

I didn't read the pamphlet but some of the trailers were advertised as 3D even though they didn't show it that way (lame). I'm keeping any eye out for any of the movies made by the folks who did "VIY." Did you get a chance to watch the movie? If so, you didn't say if you liked the movie or not not to mention the 3D.

I ordered mine from Germany too! It was a really good fun movie!
I don't understand what everyone is moaning about This film was made at a fraction of the cost (around 30 million dollars) compared to most big Hollywood flicks I thought the picture and sound quality was awesome, my wife (who is Russian) originally recommended it to me, I'm glad I purchased it!!!

Simon.

I watched this on Saturday. The 3D was very good, with a few pop outs, axes, swords, etc. To me this was sort of a continuation of the original movie, but they changed the story too much.
[Show spoiler]i didn't like the way it kind of copied The Village, and I didn't like that movie to begin with.
I did find it enjoyable enough though.

To me, the casket was the best pop out and the larger your screen, the bigger the pop out so I'd like to see this film in a theater first but it wasn't released here. What's the story on the original movie? What is the title and is it in 3D too?
