It looks like something I would enjoy. Pretty straight-forward shark movie, at least from what I can tell from the trailer. And I really like both Moore and Holt. As I'm sure I said before, that's what I liked about The Shallows: Tight, simple, and who doesn't love shark movies?

Liked this one a lot. Just for the record calling it a "shark movie" is kind of debatable; there are sharks but it's not really ABOUT them and they only show up periodically. It's more of an overall survival thriller. Still, once the cage drops, it's fast-paced and pretty relentless.

Yeah, maybe they SHOULD have kept this as direct to video as they originally intended.

Why? It probably cost next to nothing to make. It almost doesn't matter how much they make.

Considering it opened very solidly this weekend that would have been a mistake.

It's no Jaws, but I thought it pretty decent. I certainly shifted and clinched a few times, almost pinched a hole in my seat. LOL.

I also feel that the darker ending (
[Show spoiler](by having the camera pull away from her at the bottom of the ocean, going mad and seeing a school of sharks swimming all around her)
) would have been AWESOME, but they just HAD to give us a typical generic ending. Other than that, it was pretty good.

I like your ending...however i was digging
[Show spoiler]the Levithan ending until she escaped from the shark, and then it turned out to be just a hallucination after all. Shark shoulda got her - roll credits.

With a "school" of shark films readily available, how do bring some new and interesting to the table? 47 Meters Down answers the call with an interesting premise: spending most of the movie deep in the ocean in a shark cage.

There are some genuinely intense moments here and there, especially one scene where a character is lost alone in an abyss of ocean nothingness. Unfortunately these moments are few.

Where 47 Meters down really suffers is in the character building dept. They're not only "shallow" but often annoying (see Mandy Moore).

It's worth a look for the shark buffet lover, but just one.

2.5/5

[Show spoiler]I kinda wish they didn't mention thing about how you can have haullations from being down there too long. As soon as the guy told her that it spoiled the rest of the movie for me waiting to reveal that was what was happening. I knew that the younger sister coming back and their rescue was her imagination.

I think they needed to say "The Bends" about 5 more times. I didn't quite get it.

blatant foreshadowing....as soon as they put that dialogue in, i knew it was going to come into play.

Yep. It was WAY too obvious. Wish they wouldn't have mentioned it.

While it's not a shark movie I did just watch 12 Feet Deep tonight about two sisters stuck in a swimming pool under a pool cover during a holiday weekend and it kind of reminded me of this, only much better.

4/5. I loved this.

It's brisk and fast paced, has genuinely terrifying moments (the scene of Moore over the abyss alone gives me goosebumps thinking about it) and overall, was very satisfying.

I liked the ending even though the aforementioned dialogue foreshadowed it, it was still cool.

This was solid summer popcorn fare, but I wish there had been a bit more prologue and character development of the sister's relationship. I must say that that there were about three shots that I found breathtakingly beautiful. I think this could have been cut better though. 6/10.

Saw this yesterday. It was short and fun. I wish they went with the darker ending though before giving us that cliche ending.
