Your opinion not mine. I like my big VFX flicks with some docs on the making because a good deal of passion and dedication and just hard work goes into the making of these "products" as you so smugly call them and I like to appreciate that hard work by seeing how it was done. Thank you so much for your valuable input. Peace.

I watched Keepers of the Covenant: Making Exodus last night, along with the 48-minutes worth of Enhancement Pods. Ridley Scott Making of's are some of my favorite extras. The Furious Gods is my favorite Making of documentary.

Definitely for feature making of documentaries. And any concept art/ storyboard is an A+ . Sometimes i'll listen to commentaries if the film was from way back.

Agreed, and not only are they my favorite, they are a decisive factor in whether I'll purchase a particular edition or movie.

I encourage everyone to discover them -- you don't have to sit there and watch them like the movie, start to finish. Put them in while you're relaxing, surfing the internet, or resting at night. Play them like you would music or the radio -- they are another way to enjoy the films you love.

Exactly how I watch them. Usually on my tv in my room just before I pass out for the night

Only few times in a year or so if I get something worthwhile. My opinion is this material fits better to Internet than to take up space on my discs.

I used to watch, read, partake in all the extras in everything I bought. Now I tend to check out very few extras due to limited time and just too much awesome to watch.

Trailers are quick and I'll often check those out especially if they are for movies I've never seen before. I do enjoy a good behind-the-scenes, VFX, etc. featurette or similar but more often than not they're just fluff.

Not much.

I find a lot of special features kinda crap - although sometimes I think I'm just fickle. Take for example Jaws, there is just way too much for me on that disc, like eight hours of special features. I love the film but not THAT much. Yet on other discs I moan that the special features are only like half an hour and then moan I haven't seen enough behind the curtain. You can't win with me. Likewise I hate those really boring extras where a director is just sat in front of a fixed camera in a bland room and talks at it for an hour, it may as well have been a commentary track.

I usually watch special features if I know some new stuff was made for the film and was actually produced, and isn't like some crap quality extra from a VHS that was just transferred over which is like thirty years out of date.

I love stuff like what we got on the Wyrmwood disc where it was just the right length, highly informative but also really well made too so it didn't make the idea of making a film seem like this really dry topic. It should be fun!

If more discs came with that kind of stuff, I'd watch all of the features.

I used to want everything. And I considered it a tick against barebones catalog releases of my favourite movies.

I used to absorb all the info of movies in my DVD/Blu collection. Commentaries the most.

And unfortunately now while I'm watching a movie these bits of info tend to render in real time along with the viewing. This makes me heavily reluctant to watch features anymore.

Those barebones releases have tended to over time become the more immersive rewatching experiences (Speed, The Jackal etc). I crave to want to watch my favourites yearly, at minimum, so the mystique of the final package is better left as high as possible.

One example. I'm actually now SO glad spielberg does not do commentaries (guarantee I would have watched them all between 2002-2010 on DVD/blu). I can now watch any of his movies and not have his additional or tangential thoughts on the production and process muddy my immersion each viewing.

Mostly the deleted scenes or makeup featurettes. Mrs. Doubtfire, Matilda and the Jack Pierce Universal Monsters set have interesting tidbits on makeup. I love the documentaries on the Eureka Masters of Cinema silent releases.

The BFI edition of The Phantom of the Opera has a documentary on Lon Chaney that I love! The 1931 Dracula has an awesome restoration feature that's pretty damn awesome. I'll watch trailers sometimes. On horror movies, I like to check out the gore effects and how they are made.
