I don't know what the hell you all are griping about

but one of the best instances of the 3D depth - if you theater's brightness levels are calibrated correctly - was the instance when
[Show spoiler] Bing Bong tells them they should take the short cut to the train and the view into the dark 'Danger Do Not Enter' passage way - the foreground to the train in the background had a reverse wow factor of 'whoah that looks far, foreboding and dangerous' element to the scene

Oh yeah! Forgot about that shot! I'm still surprised the 3d reviews here are so mixed. Am I crazy for thinking the 3d looked great?????

IMO, you my man, have a gift for stereovision.

Illusional 3D is a personal experience. The two words: 'Subconscious awareness' can be considered an oxymoron, but they are also a measure of the true nature of stereovision. The more autonomic your complex motor responses are to visual stimuli, the more effective your level of conscious perception.

i.e. A fully connected visual cortex is essential for the ability to have fully intact brain functions for binocular disparity producing 3D perception. And, expressing the experience with the feeling of, "the 3d looked great"!

no, no you aren't.

did you see 'Mad Max Fury Road' mseeley? numerous folk have complained that the 3D conversion didn't look all that either - but since director Miller had intended to shoot the movie in 3D I think he had composed and directed it so the conversion worked to it's advantage - it's fast and furious for sure, but the 3D still worked despite all of the chaos depicted on screen.

I've seen the movie in 3d 3 times and the conversion is one of the finest ever put to screen. Granted, you'll get some imperfect anomalies with a conversion of this scale, but it's still thrilling and immersive and the only way anyway should view the movie (Fury Road is still a masterpiece in 2D or 3D, but the 3d is essential to the film). From sparks, debris, bodies, and feet (there's that one shot where they adjust the aspect ratio for a split second so that mad Max's feet can popout when he's clinging on to dear life as the car driven by Nux is being taken into the sand tornados), it's obvious the director loves 3d and meant for the film to be viewed that way. I'm pretty sure George Miller has gone on record saying he loves stereo 3d.

Also I saw inside out in 3d again and I still think the 3d looked fantastic. The 3d was very present the whole way through and one of it's best aspects is how it creatively conveys the sense of dimensions and spaces in Riley's mind. You do literally feel like you are inside a real place. Another standout shot for me too is when
[Show spoiler]Joy is on her tower of of riley's dream boyfriends which has strong 3d and gives a terrific sense of vertigo

Inside Out is Pixar's finest 3d presentation and criminally underappreciated in the format imo

I agree - I saw it again the other day, at the same theater, different screen (3D + Dolby Atmos [again]) and the 3D still impressed the hell out of me, as did the first time. The ending still teared me up - more so in fact than the first time.

in regards to "Fury Road" - the
[Show spoiler]ending bit where the climatic crash - has flying bits of cars, trucks flying outwards towards the screen - was a tremendous 'wow' moment

Saw this yesterday. Loved the movie. I don't know how Pixar keep doing it. All their films are so different too. It's not like they keep rehashing the same old story. As other people have already stated, it has the emotional pull of Up, but it comes in the second half, rather than at the start like Up. I liked the 3D. Great depth. Being Pixar, no real pop out stuff, but I expect that with them now. I think it added to the movie, so will definitely be picking up the 3D blu-ray.
The 3D in the short, Lava actually had a bunch of pop out. Was very good 3D. The storyline itself was meh (the wife loved it though), but definitely worth seeing for the 3D.

Saw it today, and I have to agree with the Cinemablend score. Very weak 3-D. The 3-D wasn't even 2.5D. 2.2D is a closer estimate.

Thankfully, I paid a discount price, so I'm not too unhappy.

I'm not sure how anybody can think this is very good 3-D. I recommend buying Open Season 3-D Blu-Ray and see what real 3-D CGI animation looks like.

That being said, I still enjoyed the movie. Great storytelling.

Both movies need comparisons made while using the same system and setup for a controlled comparison judgment. Too many theatrical variables make judgments speculative.

I sincerely doubt it.

The Hotel Transylvania 2 trailer and The Good Dinosaur trailer were both stronger than anything presented during Inside Out. Same screen. Same system.

On top of that Cinemablend backs up my point of view.

The folks at Pixar made a great movie. Hopefully, next time, they'll make one in 3-D.

loved the movie itself, and i believe I'm with the small minority on here that thinks the 3D was well done, seeing it again this friday with a friend, so i will see if the 3D holds up. and while i agree with some of Cinemablend's 3D reviews (Clash of the titans, Gravity) that isn't the case with this one.

Take it with a grain of salt for now, but someone in the Disney Movie Club thread was told by a rep there that they pulled the 3D version pre-order because it was cancelled. I certainly hope this isn't the case.

So do I. I was so excited to be able to order this from Amazon.com and not have to worry about importing, region locking, etc....

I'm really tired of this anti-US 3D-Bluray stance from Disney

Exactly. Plus, my wife hasn't seen it yet and I was excited for her to see it. If I have to order from the UK, it'll be that much longer before she's able. Pretty frustrating; I had really hoped Pixar (like Marvel) would be exempt from this nonsense.

It seems like it's extremely likely the North American 3D blu-ray release has been cancelled based on the many posts in the Disney Movie Club thread. A few individuals have posted that phone reps from the club have confirmed this. Disney pulled the same nonsense with Frozen 3D, Planes: Fire & Rescue 3D and Big Hero 6 3D. I didn't anticipate a Pixar release would have the same fate based on their track record. This is another awful move by Disney when it comes to the blu-ray format. Push the digital format all you want Disney, but don't screw your loyal blu-ray fans in the process. This news all but confirms we'll never see North American 3D blu-ray releases of The Incredibles, Ratatouille or A Bug's Life as well.

Just preordered the UK 3d blu from amazon.co.uk, after hiring this talk. I'll cancel if we get a 3d release in the states.

Here we go again...

Considering how heavily Disney promoted the 3D release of this movie, you'd think they would throw 3D fans a bone. Guess not.

Thinking about doing the same. I have a pre-order of the 3D blu-ray set up through the Disney Movie Club, but will be canceling that now. Such a bogus move by Disney. If I would have known the 3D release wouldn't come to fruition here in the U.S., I probably would have pre-ordered the UK Zavvi steelbook. I still can't understand why a studio would release a film in 3D in theaters and manufacture/distribute that film throughout other areas of the world, but not in what's likely their most profitable region. Digital sales? Weak.
