So this is the same as the three disc version of the first film?

Don't have that, never upgrade my DVD anthology until I could fully replace it, but doubt it as only two discs represent the first movie in this set

No, it just has the standard 2 discs for the first film and then the 4 other films.

Someone said its the 2010 discs, which I guess where again released in 2013. The 40th AE 3 disc, aside from the extras on disc 3 are the same yet again aren't they?

Mine has arrived somewhat pancaked, but it's only along the bottom, the spine has survived uncreased, so I'll keep hold of it. The packaging is pretty shoddy, the three lower discs had all slid out of their slots and just tumbled out when I opened it. Also the discs were in a weird order, I had to re-order them to make sure they were all there and someone hadn't doubled up!
It's a good price for the content, but I think I'll pick up a 6 disc case and do a custom cover.

Yup the two discs for the first film are identical in content to the 2010 release and the 40th anniversary edition.

The only difference is that there's no disc art on the discs in this new set.

The third disc from the 40th anniversary edition is M.I.A.

I could get the 40th Anniversary of 1 instead, but I'm not really bothered about the new extras on the 3rd disc (and it's closer to £10 anyway). Are the extras actually worth the money?

I haven't seen 4 and 5, but as they would work out basically free, I'll give them a look at some point if I get the full set again.

There was a rumour online about that being done for release next year in the US, I think someone asked a company about it on Twitter and they received an intriguing reply hinting at it. Can't really remember much more about it though, so not entirely helpful .
That would be amazing if true.

i wonder if any of the footage was found around time that the missing footage from Nightbreed was discovered?

Only time will tell.

Found the tweets I mentioned earlier, they're from Morgan Creek's official Twitter account:

Sounds a little positive at least! Certainly intriguing...

It would have been better with just 3 slimline cases each with the original cover art.

Sorry, when I think of The Exorcist movies I only think of the first 3, the prequels are shite.

First one is obviously a classic, second one (while being like nothing like and nowhere near as good as the first) is reminiscent of Argento and Fulci and the third one is just a good old fashioned detective story with elements of horror.

Was talking second hand on this one. Just got them for a total of £11.50 from Amazon Germany.

A real favourite book here is The Making of Exorcist II: The Heretic, by Barbara Pallenberg. If you have ever watched the movie and wondered: "How the Hell could they have not seen it coming...?" then this excellent document of the time will answer any questions.

I'm not happy with the case it comes in at all, it's just a piece of cardboard. I watched the directors cut in the early hours of this morning, I will watch 2 when it falls dark tonight. The content seems fine but I have only had the directors cut of 1 in so it remains to be seen if there's anything of interest on the other discs.

What annoys me about the case is that in a few years time you will find it in HMV in a plastic case they did this with the Jurassic Park collection and the Alien Anthology, cardboard to begin with then plastic

I'll learn for next time.

Mine was squashed at the top. I've pushed it back out, although there is still a crease on there and on the inside pull out part, the first fold over part is creased

I can't be bothered to replace it as it's not too bad and the replacement would probably be the same or worse. It was in a larger envelope with another item

I had a few items from Amazon yesterday and some items came together in larger packaging. I'm never sure how they decide which items get packed together as they are all separate orders

Looks like one to pay a couple of quid extra for and get in-store at HMV where I can check I'm not getting a squished one..

Well I have watched 1,2 & 3 now, I can't believe how bad 2 is, I like 3 more than most.
