I've found this one:

But it's listed as 33mm. Is the Series Two case bigger than Series One? I measured that as 34mm.

Is that an Elite case? It looks like one. That seems to hold 10 discs though. I need a 6-disc Elite case.

Season 2 is thinner than season 1.

EDIT: Okay, I'm a dummy - I was reading my tape wrong - I was counting 5 lines each instead of 4. I get a measurement of around 38-40mm (give or take) for season 1, and season 2 measures 28mm thick.

By my measurements, that case may be a tiny bit thick, but it's ard to tell how it's measured.
I get 34mm with series one's case and that placing it on a desk with a straight-edge ruler and slider thingy. If you're measuring 10mm difference then a 25mm case would work.

Here's the 25mm case:

That's great news! So where did you find those cases? Is it a 6-disc case?

Here's the 25mm case, unfortunately it holds 8 disc, but you could ignore those. Here's the larger 33mm case.

They also sell on Amazon.de. Postage is expensive. It might be worth suggesting to Network how much a replacement case is and see if they'll refund part of the costs if they can't send a replacement case to you.

If I find the Amazon.de links I'll post them.

Edit: One of our members bought a shipment from them recently, he was putting his BDs in larger cases, it's possible he has a large case spare and might be able to hook you up.

Thanks. Yeah, the expense isn't worth it to me, plus the extra 2 empty trays would bug me. This is nuts - obviously Elite made these cases, so why is it so hard to buy a replacement? I bought a set of three 6-disc Elite cases last month from Casetopia on Ebay, but they were the 15mm slim cases, and the pack of 3 cost only around $12 including shipping.

Here's a 6 disc 25mm case. But you need to check your measurements, I'll check some of my sets tomorrow so you can compare some of yours in your collection.

Is there really no booklet with this set? There's a lot of information concerning the change to a more upbeat, action orientated series with a new theme tune, and all the information about episodes and new cast members. The S1 booklet only covered S1, so I would have expected a S2 booklet to be in there.

No booklet. Not even an insert. I agree, it's ridiculous.

Well I asked Network on Friday if they would be able to point me in the right direction to buy a new replacement case exactly like they use for the set, and they responded today like I didn't even ask that. All they said was they can arrange for a FedEx pickup and they will ship out a replacement as soon as the defective set is picked up.

I guess I have no choice but to do this. Since they're just going to pack it and ship it the same way as the first time, it's possible that it will arrive in the same condition again. So I'll just have to send it back and see what happens. Year 1 arrived intact a few months ago, as did the special edition of Destination Mooonbase Alpha.

I can't believe I can't get a replacement case from Elite.

On a more positive note, I've watched 2 episodes now (Figured I'd watch a couple before I have to send them back for replacement). I honestly think year 2 actually looks better than the year 1 masters, and that's quite the accomplishment considering how good year 1 looks. The level of detail is breathtaking - I've never seen the year 2 sets look this stunning. The music sounds fantastic, and the dialogue is loud and crisp. The colors are as amazing as I'd hoped for. This is easily up there as one of the best, if not the best, television remaster I've ever seen on blu-ray. The only other series that has impressed me this much on blu-ray (other than year 1) was The Twilight Zone series.

Maybe that's part of the reason Network can't just send you a case; that they are rare or made to order?

It's possible, as they're listed as seven discs and above on their site (if it's a 25mm case). It's also curious as to what Network will do with their returned set? It's going to be a bit silly if Network throw mar3o's stuff in a new case and reseal it, they could have just sent him a replacement case - if that's the case ...

Regarding series two, is the episode that's on series one's Blu-ray presented the same or is it the same transfer? It looked great, but it felt different to the series one episodes.

Pretty quiet in here - not sure if that's good or bad.

I got my replacement set the other day. This one arrived intact so all is good. I almost damaged the front cover art though - disc 1 didn't want to come off the hub and I was pushing my finger on the front of the case to provide a bit of pressure while I was pressing on the hub, and I didn't realize there is a hole behind the 1st hub with this case style, so my finger made an impression where the hub is - on the front of the artwork you can clearly see the ring now, indented from where it pushed against the back of the inside hub. Luckily it didn't puncture through - it just made a ring. Something to watch out for in the future with these cases.

I just watched "All That Glisters" last night. I'm loving this blu-ray set so far, but this surely wasn't their finest hour. The concept is fine, but the execution - well...it's mostly just Tony wandering back and forth carrying rocks and Helena being attacked by a colored spotlight for most of the episode, along with some strangeness involving an Irish rock expert obsessed with Texas?!?

A few beautiful effects shots as usual, but there's a glaring error where the Eagle lifts off around the middle of the episode. The Eagle in this episode is outfitted with the laboratory pod, and when it lifts off and lands again, it has the pod, but when it's hovering for a few moments, it's a standard Eagle with no lab pod! It's not a quick mistake either - you see it for several seconds in a couple shots as the Eagle hovers. Pretty sloppy continuity, though the shot itself is beautiful.

This is also the episode where Helena exclaims, "I'm a Doctor, not a miracle worker"!. Wow, did they really need to include that stolen Star Trek line? The last thing this show needed was to be compared even more to Star Trek, yet Freddy Frieberger literally ripped this line straight out of Dr. Bones' mouth.

I'm still stunned by the quality of these remasters. I've never seen these year 2 Eagle interiors with so much detail.

I usually open the case so the spine is the highest point, that way the cover drops away from the hub and you can push the hub down to release the disc without damaging the cover. It's quite common to get the ring indents, I have them on cases where the disc has never left the case (or they're still sealed). If you stack them on their sides or cram them into a shelf it can leave the indentations.

My Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' cover actually had a hole in it before I opened it, but realized too late to return it. I'm not a fan of the hubs with so much play, generally the Viva cases are better than the Amaray ones, you can go straight through the cover with an Amaray hub!

I'm glad you got your replacement, mar3o.

There are some really good episodes in S2, but a lot of bad ones, too. Oh, and I can do without the 'we nearly got annihilated, but let's have a laugh anyway' endings.

Yeah, I love year 2; there are some great episodes. But there's certainly more bad ones than in year 1. Year 2 definitely has it's own look, style, and sound. I do hate the cheesy "smiley" endings. There also seems to be a repetitive nature to many of the scripts. Already episode 2 featured aliens that could transport themselves just by "wishing it", and the very next episode featured the exact same thing. The Metamorph features a planet whose destruction can be accomplished by smashing a control room, and episode 3 has the same situation.
[Show spoiler]It was also extremely hard for me to believe that the androids whipped up an exact full-scale duplicate Moonbase Alpha to trick Helena and Tony into turning violent on each other in One Moment of Humanity. In year one's Missing Link, Raan does essentially the same thing to Koenig, but in that episode, it was all a mind trick, which made a lot more sense than in year 2, where the androids actually build a real functional moonbase!

My favourite episode is the two-part 'The Bringers of Wonder', but you haven't got that far yet. You'll never look at jelly (or jello if you're American) in the same way again!

Is The Metamorph identical to the version on the series one release? It looked great, but I wonder if they went back and re-scanned it when they did series two?

Oh, I know that episode well. It's my favorite year two story, too. I have the "Destination Moonbase Alpha" special edition blu-ray they released earlier this year. I remember renting that on VHS ages ago from Blockbuster Video. It's a great story with a really interesting premise and some nice editing.
