Just create a new email address account with anyone like yahoo etc. and sign up to Zavvi again with the new email, and put WELCOME in the code bar and you get 10% off. I did and there was no problem having two accounts with different email addresses.

Yeah, except it's gone up almost $50. Still a better price than here but not quite the deal it was when first listed.

AmazonFR have it for about $187AUS Del. Inc. Go with that one instead. Still worked out cheaper by about $10AUS even with Zavvi's best deal.

If you don't mind that it will likely have French text on the box.

It does, but it still says The X-Files, the German set says Akte X (that's the same price as well).

To 4:3 or not 4:3, that is the question.

Five weeks to go yesterday. I'm guessing JB will get it Monday arvo Dec 7. Happy to pay the $350 to get it day one. Can't wait 'til Boxing Day.
Even if S1-4 will be cropped top and bottom; tops of heads cut off and other maladies inherent in such an exercise of turning 1.33:1 aspect ratio film into widescreen!

Why Fox? Why? I understand you would want to 16:9 the show for cable, but the BD release should have been 4:3 full-frame. If something is shot 1.33:1, then it should be released 1.33:1. Lest we forget what a travesty The World at War was. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-W.../14243/#Review

although I agree with your re OAR, and especially in this case since 4:3 remasters were available (as opposed to say The Wire), I am afraid the ship has sailed well past.

But, apart from maybe the pilot, because most if not all of seasons 1-4 were shot protected for widescreen, we shouldnt get too many goofs, just a lot of dead space.

Man, I'm usually fine with paying a bit more for day one, but a hundred dollars on top of the Zavvi price is just too much.

I'm fine with waiting a few weeks if it means I save that much money.

The local set has dropped to $299 on JB's site:

https://www.jbhifi.com.au/movies-tv-...rs-set/839459/

If they do the gift card promotion this year, and you can pair the voucher with their standard 20% off sales, then Zavvi's original price will be redundant.

Unfortunately, this may be the last 20% off BD/DVD days before Boxing Day.

https://www.jbhifi.com.au/movies-tv-...rs-set/839459/

20% off ends Sunday 15/11 (so on Monday, if you go to buy Extended Edition of The Hobbit, you are paying full price).

But, for mine $299 is just fine and will still be a day one buy for me (hopefully afternoon of Monday December 7).

BUT...Judging by the size of our box represented on JB HiFi, we may get the slightly thicker sized Aussie standard BD cases? Would rather get the smoother, slightly thinner US cases (as seen in link-slipshot below). Similar to the cases that came with the US box set of The Wire.
Hope we also get the same digibox quality as US. But wait; I am worried now, as we are the only box set to get 57 discs, rather than 55. Will that mean the 2 films in two separate BD cases?
I am afraid Australia is going to simply get a thick cardboard box with 9+2 standard BD cases inside.
Hope my fears are unfounded and it will be like "The Sopranos" on BD. Essentially, the same set, just an "Aussie" rating box around the actual box set that was the same as the US.

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-X...Blu-ray/59724/

On second thought, might walk into Sanity first and check out how the set is packed and maybe wait to buy the US set on Amazon once it becomes available again… Doubt the UK set will look like it is shown on Amazon UK (will have the horrible BBFC:18 logo on it).

Got US Region A Army of Darkness recently and 3 discs fit easily into the "super thin" US type BD case. Thin is better, as it stores better, when you have space issues!

Save some money now folks!

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=269669

Especially if you can get it shipped by a friend or service in the US to you. Free shipping on orders over US25.

You'll have to order Seasons 1-7 in one order, then 8 and 9 in another (with another title(s) to breach the threshold).

For you Aussies, it would make the whole series only AU119!
