Aside from the audio/video quality, I'm also curious as to whether or not this will have any special features.

The films are feminist in that they pass the Bechdel Test (if this was a good feminist indicator then Jess Franco would be the most prolific feminist director ever) but then they fail in not showing female characters outside the male gaze.
I find the type of female roles in Meyer's films are a lot less problematic than say the Marvel universe. |

Meyer could be a cad, no doubt, but taking one quote from him and trying to sum him up is problematic, at best. His feelings and attitudes about women were far more complex than this quote would suggest. "The woman's place is in the bedroom and the kitchen, and that's it as far as I am concerned" reflects his penchant for exaggerating to make a point (remember he was known for an over-the-top style). I could just as easily dig out quotes from him contradicting this statement in no uncertain terms. I'm not trying to cast him as a feminist champion, but neither was he the cro-magnon caveman this quote would suggest. |

I have seen this kind of things many times before. In fact, I recently worked for a guy in his late 80s, old-money rich, WWII vet who loved the company of women - lusted after them, in fact - but was exactly as Meyer in attitudes, probably worse: lovely to look at, lots of fun, but their purpose is for cooking, cleaning and entertaining in the bedroom. People from a certain generation had/have particular views about women. |

Received the Blu-Ray today. Film is presented 1.78:1, very nice quality if not revelatory, healthy grain, didn't notice any compression issues as I skipped through the film. It's definitely a big upgrade over RM's earlier 4:3 DVD of the film.
No extras at all. (The earlier DVD had some trailers and misc. bio, photos, etc.) In fact, there's not even a menu screen. The movie just plays after inserting the disc. Chapter breaks are at every 10 minute mark. |

![]() ![]() ![]() PS - I had the rest of the film play out earlier, and I really can't imagine this film ever looking much better than what's on this release. Shame about no extras, the lossy audio (sounds OK to me, though), and the high price, but considering their DVD's have always retailed for $39.95, this is kind of like a bargain! There's absolutely no mention of the transfer producer, facility, or anything like that on the packaging, disc, or (lack of) menu. |
