Given how they've proceeded with Blu-ray, I'm not holding my breath for 4K versions of any Disney titles, with Spielberg or without. It's pretty clear that the people in charge of their home entertainment division never really figured out how to exploit Blu-ray to its full potential, so I would assume that they will be one of the last to release UHD titles, if they ever do release any in the first place.

I think not. If you set aside their controversial animation remastering techniques, then yes, they had a few stellar classic animation releases in the beginning, and certainly, there were a handful of great live-action releases, too. But Disney also made a number of bad decisions which continue to this day. This began with reintroducing their ridiculous Disney Vault idea too early in the life of the Blu-ray format, and continued on with head scratching 3D releases, followed by the bizarre decision to not release films on Blu-ray 3D at all in the United States. Then, they introduced the DMC Exclusives line, which is the very definition of "too little, too late", stripping live-action Disney classics (which should have been released from the beginning, in tandem with their classic animation) of legacy extras and even lossless audio.
And all that excludes the drying up of Touchstone and other adult-oriented catalog lines owned by Disney. And we've all seen what's happened with the recent Marvel television product, too.
It's fine to blame consumers, as I'm sure Disney does that in every shareholder meeting as well, but the fact is, we had an economic recession, and everyone felt that, Imagine, on the other hand, if the Platinum Editions were coming now, instead of 2009. But of course now, all Disney seems to really want to do is push their consumers to digital formats.
I enjoyed the film. Tom Hanks nails the role as usual, and Mark Rylance steals the show. Should be interesting to see Rylance in The BFG (as the title character).

Disney's decision to back Blu-Ray and promote it aggressively was a factor in ending the Format War. You're talking about the Disney Movie Club and live-action titles and Disney's moratorium strategy which is almost as old as home video itself. Disney was chasing a market with potential, a technology that gave consumers a reason to buy their home media products all over again. They were bullish on Blu. This is common knowledge.
Today, it's a different landscape. 4k is a much harder sell than HDTV. 4k media is in its infancy. It's too soon to speculate on what Disney or any other studio will do, let alone speculate about their motives.

I saw this in the threatre with not so high of a expectation and was totally riveted. Whether it was the marketing or the wrong timing but this film played in empty theatres and left rather quickly.

I am recommending this film to everyone I know.
In my area (at least) the film is actually still playing at AMC locations, both tomorrow and Wednesday, with two showings. Thursday, they have one showing scheduled at this point, so this is probably the last week for the film, at least before the dollar theatres.
I think this film in one of the many examples of wider audiences getting out to support movies they want to see. Obviously, a film like Bridge of Spies is going to appeal a lot of different audiences, both because of the cast and crew, and because of the mid-20th century setting.
The problem is that in this day and age, no one focuses anymore on films that have legs, unless they are Hollywood summer blockbusters

Not as colossal a hit as Lincoln, which did $275 million worldwide, but still an enormous success. Nobody but Spielberg and Hanks could bring a story like this to such a wide audience. I'm so happy to see the film made money, it means other period films have a fighting chance, since period is generally considered the kiss of death by studios.

Bridge of Spies is not a UV eligible title in North America. Since it's a Disney distributed release in North America but not a Disney/Pixar/Marvel/Lucasfilm title, it's DigitalCopyPlus only (VUDU or iTunes or other select providers) and will not port thru UV or DMA.
Fox is the International distributor, so the UK edition will have a UK UV code. Still, it likely won't be redeemable at any US UV retailer and Flixster does not carry any Disney distributed films.

Disney have provided the film's original audio in DTS-HD MA 7.1, while also including French and Spanish dubs in Dolby Digital 5.1. The English: Dolby Digital 2.0 track is audio description. English subtitles are English SDH.
All video extras are 1080p, with English: Dolby Digital 2.0 audio and optional English SDH, French and Spanish subtitles.
All subtitling is in white font.
