I have owned a system almost every generation since the Atari 2600, and every time I upgrade, the old system gets seriously neglected. But after I bought my PS3 and HDTV it was all over for any old school game, no matter how much I used to enjoy it.

I cant stand to look at my PS2 games, they sicken me. So do my original XBOX games, ewww.

I cant even play GTA San Andreas anymore, I have so many hours in that game, now I cant force myself to play 15 min.

Between frame rate, and the graphics they just dont entertain me like they used to.

Undoubtably there have been many great games on the PS2, but I dont care about the backwards support of my 60gb PS3. I never played my PS1 games on my PS2 either. Thats what I bought a new system for, new games, and new technology. In fact thats why I like Blu-ray.

I even avoid my DVD collection. I have many great titles on DVD but Ill choose a Blu-ray 99.9% of the time.

Sure, I've had my issues with online play and online players, but that's the few and not the many. Depends on what games you like as well. I love the baseball games, FPShooters and the odd racing or action game. A lot of times you can limit the play of the jerks that screw with/up your online experience (ie. GRAW2) when you host a match.

As for "FUN" games, I say that exemplifies the Wii system and I would say that has sold, and is still selling pretty well.

If you read a bit further into my last post you referred to, I mention I don't see the point in playing the same game over and over and over in a single player campaign. How does that make it a great game? If it's limited in it's graphics but the "Game Dynamics" are great BUT you know how the system will respond to your play (because you played the game for 200 hours and beat the game 25 times already) what the hell is the point?

TIME TO MOVE ON.
I said I dont play games over and over myself. But ya just opinions Im not mad

need the ps2 so my wife can play her guitar hero 2 and dance dance revolution. They won't function properly with the ps3. Well, the games will, but not the guitar or the dance mat.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the NES in its day (and enjoyed the heck out of a friends Atari), but your expectations grow as the bar is raised. Or at least mine do.

Sure many games with fantastic graphics suck; many games suck, period. But sh!tty graphics don't mean that any more attention was paid to gameplay.

dude ...trivial pursuit has "shitty graphics," (IE: board game) but that doesn't make it a "shitty game."

getting the point across about game quality and replay-ability is like trying to force a twinkie through a brick wall. ain't gonna happen. that's why this whole thread is moot.

you have your people who like b/c, and those who could care less about it and only about "the future of gaming" as I like to pull a quote from the insta-classic "grandma's boy."

Cool

Then day after I got my PS3 60gb, I went to Gamestop and sold my five year old ps2 with all of the accessories - memory cards and most of my games (Gotta keep MGS 1,2,3). I don't really play those games much anymore but I still want to keep them.

Because I missed out on the PS1 & PS2 craze, the backwards compatibility was a selling point for me. So far, I haven't bought a single PS2 title yet, but I'd like to.

Street Fighter 3, Ratchet & Clank 1+2, Metal Slug Anthology, and maybe Final Fantasy XII are interesting titles, but I can't seem to find Street Fighter 3 brand new from a reputable vendor. With Ratchet & Clank, I hear that there is a motion/frame rate issuse with backwards compatiblity, so I'm just surfing the net to watch video cutscenes to satisfy my interest in seeing how the entire Ratchet series got started (I really like his original musky, rugged voice). As for Metal Slug and Final Fantasy, well, I'd rather put the money towards PS3 titles or Bluray movies rather than pay full price for a PS2 game.

But because the standalone PS2 console will probably sell for $99 or even $50 at some point, brand new, BC shouldn't be an issue. Heck, you might even get one used at even better price. Heck again, you might even get one for free, as you've been hearing alot of people in here saying that they're giving it away for free.

3 Reasons why I cant get rid of my PS2;

SFAC

CVS2

MVC2

This games are classic beat em ups that I just cant stop playing, and even though I have a 60GB PS3 it lags a little when playing these and if anyone here have played these games, theyll know that accuracy is everything. Thats why I hate SF 3S on 360Live, lags like a motha!!!

My 2 cents

The second the PS3 came out the PS2 games just stopped being good. Wow, I never considered that.

I love games and movies for me i have every system that has ever came out. I dont care how old the game or system is if it is fun its fun. It just comes down to the things that you remember when you play that particular game. I love Mario I dont care what people say. One of the reasons i love Mario is every time i play it, it takes me back to when i was like 3 or 4 and played it with my mom and dad.

No. My PS2 is modded, so I can't play some of my games on my PS3.

While my machines are all NTSC-J.

Playstation 2 games are still good I am still buying them for my PS3 unless they make a PS3 version because if they make a PS3 version well its like well i am for sure going to get it if its a game i would like but if it only comes out to PS2 then its like fine i will buy it for my PS3. they should make all of the upcoming PS2 games into PS3 titles as well like dual format. like i just got King of Fighters XI and want to get the new NeoGeo game that just came out. plus its going to be a long wait before SNK releases those into the PS3

I don't have a ps2 to throw out, never had ps or ps2.

I have bought some great PS2 games for $1 or $6 used which I play on my PS3.

I've very tempted to take a N64 with games to my local Salvation Army store if they will take it because I'm to lazy to try to sell it on ebay. I did throw out my PC games.

And,.. I've even considered getting rid of the DreamCast but I have way to many very fun games for DC and tons of controllers and stuff. I'm sure my kids would miss the Saga Sport Fishing game. I looked into getting a PS1 version of Sega Sport Fishing but I don't think that would do. If Ps3 had a fun fishing game then I think maybe I could retire my DC.

I gave away my PS2, but not my 60+ games for it, many still yet to be played such as God of War II. I have zero interest in the 40 GB PS3 as backwards compatibility is a must for me.

I care because my wife wanted to get dance dance revolution and that was the only way we were gonna get a console of any sort, hahaha. I'm just lucky that we decided to go with the PS3 instead of the PS3.
