Animated movies always have long-assed credits, mainly to pad up to a feature runtime.

I reluctantly took my kids to see this tonight. It turned out to be, surprisingly, one of my favorite family movies of the year. The whole family seemed to enjoy it, too. From my almost four year old son, who sat still through the whole thing, to my twelve year old son, who teared up twice(!). Definitely a day one purchase for me. I hope it does well at the box-office because it is absolutely worth a watch.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to join them this time, but my 8 year old niece and my mom (grandma) enjoyed it a lot, stating there was a pleasant surprise around every corner and it was very imaginative. With great animation, great music and crazy creatures, a pure joy.

I wasn't going to until my 5 year old said, "we haven't seen Trolls yet," so I gathered up the family and all five of us went to see it, and I was...pleasantly surprised. Pretty basic, but I like the balance of songs and the deft, quick comedy. I'd rate it a solid 3/5, and I liked it more than Secret Life of Pets.

One of my movies has Fandango cash up to $7.50 to see Trolls. I already saw it and it's not playing anymore around me so I thought someone else out there could use it if you haven't seen it yet.

It has to be activated by 1/31/17 and expires on that date.

Enjoy!

Saw this today... I enjoyed it a lot.

The story itself is pretty basic, and it borders a bit on afternoon special at a few points, but it all works without becoming cringey like these things tend to. Probably because it felt so organic and sincere, which may be ironic considering how the whole thing is based on a toy brand.

The visuals are very eye-popping and fun. Even the world of the Bergens, which is portrayed as dark and dreary, has a unique look that visually distinguishes it from a lot of run-of-the-mill CGI features.

It's not only the art direction and design that makes it a joy to watch, but just the way world comes to life. There's lots of creative sight gags and fun little surprises sprinkled throughout the whole movie.

Honestly, the visuals alone are worth the price of admission, but overall, even if it's no masterpiece and you know that some of the songs aren't gonna hold up down the line, it's a very well made movie--funny, imaginative, and heartfelt. I honestly did not expect to tear up like I did.

It's still pretty rare that I truly enjoy a mainstream CGI flick like this outside of Disney Animation and Pixar, so it's a win in my book. In terms of DreamWorks Animation, it may not quite be Kung-Fu Panda or How To Train Your Dragon , but it's pretty up there along with The Croods.

Never would have expected this, considering my reaction when the project was originally announced. The subsequent trailers got me quite interested, though, and the final product didn't let me down in that regard.
