Oddly enough my wife and I went to see

on one of our first dates. Somehow it still worked out for me.

My recommendation would be

On a related note, has anyone ever had a date that became so excited at the quality of a blu ray transfer that she was on the verge of...

Oh, nevermind.

Two more wonderful choices that I might add...

Both are musicals too. And what warm-blooded All-American girl doesn't like a good musical? Assuming she has a fondness for the classics that is...

This one worked for me back when it was in theaters, and it doesn't suck like real chick flicks!

A couple movie INTROS that might set the mood (even if watching the ENTIRE film might not)...

THE SPY WHO LOVED ME 1977
A very romantic opening credits sequence, tastefully done and accompanied by Carly Simon's intimate "Nobody Does It Better". It is my favorite opening sequence of any Bond film.

GREASE 1978
A very scenic opening with Sandy and Danny on the Pacific Shore in Australia.

And here are a couple movie intros to AVOID despite the fact they are great!

JAWS 1975
Not a good mood-setter having a girl being thrashed around by a Great White.

THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 1974
One of my favorite all-time openings and credit sequences when it comes to establishing a mood. But, no, not THAT mood! If it does then, well, this is going to be one peculiar relationship!

Here is a vintage Twilight Zone episode that I would recommend on a first date. Again, assuming your date is classic-minded...

Passage On The Lady Anne
It's my favorite of the one hour episodes and is an elegant, ghostly tale centered around a couple that takes a voyage on a ship in an attempt to save their marriage. The couple are dysfunctional at the beginning but it slowly takes a romantic turn...

I have to think that a good Disney movie is likely a safe choice too. It shows you have a sense of wonder, magic and that your heart is likely good-natured. The problems are...

1 She may think you are 12 year old in a 35 year old's body (this is probably true...)

2 She may get the impression that, gulp, you want kids!!! Run for the hills!!!

On the other hand, if you are driving with a date and things become heated and you decide to get a hotel room for the night, I would steer clear of watching...

Great film and one of my favorite cover arts. The ending "duel" scene is priceless, but not the kind of thing you want to watch before putting the "do not disturb" sign on the door...

It does say DVD on the cover. Please tell me they are out on BD.

My pick is When Harry.jpg or Wall.jpg
