Saw it in theaters on opening night. I'm still trying to get over how they could have messed that up with Samuel L Jackson on board.
I worked at a movie theater when it came out. Played to near empty auditoriums. One night the manager says to me " I think if they had titled it Airport 2006 it would have made money." The still makes me laugh out loud.

There was so much hype for that prior to its release until people saw the actual final product. I wonder whatever happened to all those "Snakes on a Planiacs"?

We need Airport 2016 or a reboot of the Airport franchise.

Haha

I went opening night, had gotten there early even.

They let us into earlier showings and it was pretty empty even after it started.

The Samuel L Jackson phone calling promo was hilarious though.

I still love that movie. Me and a group of 15 friends went that first night and it is still one of the best movie experiences I've had. Loved it.

This is how universal lists each movie:

"Snap Case with Outer Box"

If you saw the 2014 Left Behind it was much more a reboot/installment of Airport than an adaptation of the novel Left Behind.

I actually thought Universal's "Non-Stop" released a couple of years ago starring Liam Neeson and Julianne Moore would have made for a decent entry in the "Airport" franchise.

I just pre-ordered this at amazon.ca for $26.14CDN...which equates to about $19.90US. And the threshold for free shipping in Canada is only $25.00CDN so I'm getting free-shipping as well.

That's a deal!

With shipping it works out to about $27 shipped. I'll probably lock in a pre-order. I do expect Amazon.com to drop the price a little

Is the 77 extended version anywhere to be found? I'd love to see this.

I taped it off TBS probably 20 years ago, but the tape is likely buried in a box somewhere.

clips from the extended scenes:

And here's one in its entirety:

In your dreams. This is likely to be identical to the bare bones French release. The film isn't high profile enough to warrant a special edition and the extended version has only ever been shown in TV. This would mean that it would require an expensive and time consuming restauration if the original elements are still available at all, which I doubt. Why would Universal want to spend all that time and money on an not particularely highly regarded Airport sequel which is part of a bargain price box set ?
