I'm cool with that. The collector in me is a little OCD about the fact that there are two versions of BvS and I (of course) only own the Extended Cut. I'm trying to have a complete DCU collection just like my Marvel collection.

This is probably the wrong section to ask
but I'm new when it comes to purchasing iTunes movies and T.V. Shows Do studios ever give Apple updated files to replace old outdated versions ? -such as newer remasters / restorations and what about commentaries and extras if so, is it a free upgrade for previous buyers or a totally different SKU / purchase ? For example, all the Universal Monster HD digital files seem to be the old masters that were used for the DVDs - and don't even have almost two decade old extras and commentaries Meanwhile , the Blu-ray versions have had new/better transfers since 2012 - The Creature from the Black Lagoon is still stuck in 4:3 -Sheesh! |

I hope as time goes on they work towards maintaining just one copy of each movie in the store that has different resolutions (SD, HD and eventually 4K) so when a new transfer is brought in or a different cut of the film is available you get all of that regardless of when you bought it. I really hate that they have multiple versions in the store of movies where one version has multiple cuts of the film and the other version only has one cut. |

As for new transfers, I've had all my episodes of "The Boondocks" replaced with the uncensored DVD versions later on, so it is possible to get new transfers. If and when they come, you'll have no warning about it, usually. |

Like odditie said, it's a mixture of both in terms of updating existing copies and adding new unique listings.
An odd example is that I read that people who owned Labyrinth before they added extras didn't get extras added to their older copy. So the new version with extras replaced the old version in the storefront, but it wasn't retroactive. I could be wrong about that one, as it could have just happened to one person and not everyone. That's an unusual example, but there are multiple examples of different versions of the same film on iTunes where you'd have to buy them separately, like a lot of unrated cuts are a separate listing from the theatrical (see Knocked Up). The Martian extended isn't even sold on iTunes or included with the theatrical listing. It just redeems with the digital copy included on the extended Blu-ray. |

Thank y'all
Great Info I do enjoy my digital copies, for better or worse However, sometimes the studios decisions can be mind boggling ![]() I'm not sure if they should be embarrassed for not stacking all of their digital copies up against their Blu-ray counterparts or if I should be embarrassed for continuing to purchase ![]() |

Looks like It's a Wonderful Life just got extras (Canadian iTunes)and it includes the colourized version in the extra's. It's 19.99 so I think I can wait till it's a little less expensive!

Wanderer808 - Thank you for your effort in maintaining this list, I find the list useful and keep coming back to check for the latest additions.
I would however like to make one suggestion as the list grows - adding a 'DATE ADDED' or something similar so that new additions to the list can be easily spotted. something like this perhaps? Quote:

Is the Director's Cut of Star Trek : The Motion Picture, included in the 1-10 collection, 1080 or SD only ?
It seems you can purchase the director's cut separately but only in SD. I assume the director's cut of Khan included in the collection and separately as an extra is in HD. I wish iTunes would be more clear about what exactly we are getting when it comes to extras ( this goes for every movie available ). A complete listing of All the extras , not just a brief description and a semi-interactive menu tease. ( you know, the stuff you can access in the title description before you buy it) Also, what is and what is not presented in HD. |
