I was going to get Bill and Ted, but now I have to set that aside so I can afford this.

I'm the opposite. I must get this and make sure the bay films are no where near it, ever!

I can't not have at least one live action TRANSFORMERS film on the shelf. Transformers is just my thing.

I'm sorry...once again, goddamn it, yes to this release. OMG, I can not wait for this. I will devour this thing in September.

BATMAN v SUPERMAN
TRANSFORMERS THE MOVIE.

That's the list for the year on Blu. Damn the rest.

Between Transformers, Bill and Ted and The Thing it looks like a peanut butter and jelly kind of month for September.

Hopefully the original vhs 4:3 ratio is kept instead of re-using the Sony widescreen crop that was created for the last dvd release.

It was shown theatrically in widescreen, so it better be in widescreen ala the previous BD releases.

This is my fav artwork:

The original ratio is matted widescreen. That was how the movie was first seen in theaters, that was how the movie was intended to be seen.

1.78/1.85:1 is a legitimate aspect ratio. It's not about the most picture, it's about the right picture.

Watch the attack on Autobot city in the beginning and look at the cannon scene where the sun is glistening off of the barrel. When Sony cropped it for their widescreen release, that sheen was cut out and it looked bad.

Yeah, and the last time someone tried to do something 'different' with the ratio it didn't go so well.

Got me the Aussie Blu-ray and at least three DVD versions (I love the colour on the 4:3 Rhino R1 DVD), so I'm not desperate for a new edition although I do love it so. If Shout smash it for picture, sound and extras then I'll have a nibble.

It was a theatrical release in 1986. 1.85:1 matted widescreen is its intended aspect ratio.

Now, the 2006 Sony release was likely zoomed in for its widescreen release, like a lot of films have been for home video over the years. Since Shout is using a new scan of the 35mm film this shouldn't be the case on this release. But make no mistake, 1.85:1 is the proper AR to recreate the theatrical experience. If they want to throw in the 1.33:1 open matte version it would be a nice bonus, but it should be just that: a bonus.
