If you're paying $35 for a Criterion, you're doing it wrong.

Then pay $20 or less during a 50% off sale. Criterion have many of them, including one right before or after this one comes out, assuming I'm correct, and the release date is accurate.

Youre right thought, if its quality far surpasses the other releases, then that atrocious cover I would buy
They always include the original poster art on the reverse in addition to the amazing new art. I'm sure you already knew that though.

Barnes & Noble has a 50% off Criterion sale twice per year.

I have a gut feeling it's scream lol... they almost got it before... and lots of people want it from scream... I think she intentionally said "special" edition instead of collectors edition.. as that would also give it away.. but could be wrong since she couldve said collectors edition without actually saying the label... o.o

I doubt Nancy Allen knows the release terminology of Blu-ray studios.

Some folks never know if they'll have the money at that time or not.

I've only been a Blu-ray collector for 4 months really and so perhaps a lot of you guys are more crafty at getting Criterion's cheaper.

I hope we get a mono track with Ms Collins saying "the other day" instead of "yesterday"

Yes, I am that sad...

You guys are assuming that Nancy Allen is familiar enough with Shout! Factory to feel comfortable spilling the beans on a release, right down to its apparent release date, and using nomenclature like "Scream" for "Scream Factory" as well as using "Special Edition" as opposed to "Collector's Edition"?

Let's think here: Nancy Allen leaked a release before, of a film that she was involved in, started in and made herself available to interview for, and the company who produced that disc, was not Shout!, or MGM, or even Facets Video...it was The Criterion Collection. It's Criterion that Ms. Allen has worked with before, it's Criterion who have released several of De Palma's films from directly before and after Carrie, it's Criterion who have salvaged lauded MGM films from the 1960s and 1970s, and Criterion who have had great relationships with many of the people who worked on Carrie besides Nancy Allen and Brian De Palma, like, you know, Sissy Spacek, and Piper Laurie, and even Tony Manero himself. And it's Criterion who are synonymous with "Special Edition", particularly to actors and directors in Hollywood, along with most everyone over a certain age in the film industry.

So, maybe I'm wrong, and hey, maybe the earth is flat after all, but, I feel pretty overconfident about this one. And you know what they say, pride comes before the fall...of 2016.

"Blue. I might have known it would be blue."

"It's teal, Mama."

I'm glad that I decided to wait for a better transfer before pulling the trigger on this title. Great news!

I am hoping it is NOT Criterion. They have been on a teal/green tint kick with everything they have been putting out, and we don't seem to be getting that problem with Shout! Factory.

So here is hoping it is Shout! Factory, which will mean no f-cking with the color timing (and the inevitable apologists) and a cheaper price.

I dunno..Criterion doesn't tend to teal themselves, that's whoever supplied the masters.

Neither company has a great rep for compression, which makes me wish Arrow got this.

No they haven't, stop with the hyperbolic BS. Plus since you're so unaware, whoever licenses it will be getting the exact same master regardless, since the labels aren't doing the restorations themselves.

That's because the restoration was done by someone else (Fantastic Planet and Touch of Zen), or the director either supervised or approved the transfer (David Cronenberg's pre 1982 films and Thief).

Regarding the UK, that's a toss up now that Criterion could just as easily have beaten Arrow to the punch and licensed the film to put out in the UK, too.

Saying that, Arrow deserve it more, so I'd like to see it come from them, if only to have another excellent release of the film to go toe-to-toe with the Criterion US release.
