just saw the 3d non IMAX version and the aspect ratio shifting is present there too, awesome 3D, great for cinema watching as nearly every effect spills out into the black bars, in one shot patty's necklace even dangles down! not so great for us with scope screens at home though, i would imagine the 2d version is just cropped
and there is a scene where (like in imax) it switches to 16:9 and fills the entire screen for the entire scene
all this was in a standard 3D screen
gonna look beautiful in UHD

Oh there's shifting AR for regular 3D? That's very interesting.
Thanks for sharing!

You've sold me on seeing it in 3d at the theater!

Crap! Now I have to catch a 3D showing. Oh well, I hope the shifting aspect ratio is included on the Blu-ray. I guess there's no point in doing it on the UHD transfer.

Nice, worth buying imax tickets then

Now this is just silly. Paul Feig says there will be an extended cut in Blu-ray.

The movie isn't even formally released in cinemas yet and we already have an extended cut coming.

there's a definite scene missing (dance sequence) towards the end of the movie it's included in the background of the end credits but it seemed (to me) that there was clearly a dance involved that got cut whilst watching the movie (totally wouldn't have been needed, but would love to know what song it was they were dancing too!)

Was already considering 3D but now I think I'll definitely see it in 3D.

Curious to see if the UK released will be 4k and 3D in the same box too. I've ordered that Ghostbusters 1-3 box set, good price at £36, but if that doesn't have the 3D disc too I'll consider cancelling.

I know this is odd to add this comment here but I would assume the Dolby Atmos mix will not only be on the UHD edition but also (fingers crossed) the 3D edition as well

Thought I this was just 5.1, didn't we decide on that?
No atmos logo in the credits, either way it's Sony so no matter what it will have atmos

Theatrically it's going in all formats (okay not DTS-X or 7.1) but 5.1, Atmos, Auro11.1 (and I'd assume IMAX laser 12 channel.

Are you sure? The dcp listed 5.1 and the logos at the end were sparse

Since Auro is essentially 5.1 with height channels that doesn't surprise me it's being released as such - both imdb AND Auro themsleves denote this as going out as such. Atmos is never denoted in the DCP coding branch but as Dolby is listing this as an official Dolby Cinema release -Atmos is a given [it's being touted on Dolby's facebook page as well]. I'm trying to get some confirmation on the IMAX mixing

AHEM!
http://www.dolby.com/us/en/experienc...os/movies.html

That said, the 3D version may not be Atmos since Sony's 3D authoring software is outdated...just like for Goosebumps. The 3D specs for The Angry Birds Movie aren't listed on the back, just the UHD version.
