Amazon has 9/20 listed for all the ST: Beyond releases aside from the 4K/3D combo that comes with the model ship. Nothing yet on Best Buy or Wal-Mart.

That would put it in the already over-crowded October. Which makes sense, from a wallet-murdering point of view.

EDIT: Others are confirming; and it does seem so. Oh wow.

Maybe they're leaving space in Nov/Dec for the Animated solo release and the "Roddenberry Vault"--?

The USS Franklin model version doesn't have a release date yet. This is weird. It CAN'T be Sept. 20, that's way too soon. I expected something closer to 11/20.

Anyone know why the regular BD has a release date, but not the UHD?

UHD also says Sept. 20, unless you're talking about the version with the ship.

Figured. Wonder how Amazon even got that date, let alone thought it was accurate...

It would be unprecedented for a movie this high profile. It is a box office bomb(so far), but it still has yet to open in several foreign markets. And some aren't scheduled til well after 9/20. My money is on late November being the actual release date.

Yeah China is next week but I'd be surprised if it found new life there (and even if it does, Paramount only gets what, 25% of the take?). I know it's a flop so it'll be on Blu-ray relatively soon, definitely before the holidays, but even October is ridiculous. I'd guess Tuesday, Nov. 22.

9/20 would've been ludicrous speed had that panned out.

It's considered a "bomb" in the industry if it doesn't turn a profit or make back its budget and ST:B will surely not turn a profit and may not even recoup its costs (with marketing and distribution fees taken into account). For a film that will make over $250 million to be considered a box office bomb is disturbing. Paramount needs to stop treating Trek like a Marvel movie and spend way less on future films.

During the TOS movie years (after TMP of course), the powers that be at the time understood that Trek isn't (and doesn't need to be) a mammoth summer blockbuster, but rather a nice, reliable money maker and so they set budgets accordingly. To spend $185 million + marketing costs on Trek and therefore pretty much need it to top the charts all Summer is crazy. You can do a lot in Hollywood without throwing huge sums of money at a project. Heck, even Jurassic World's budget was $150 million... And The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King cost $94 million.

John Carter crossed that milestone and it's widely regarded as a bomb. Still, STB should cross $350m with China, putting it well out of bomb territory.

Did Star Trek: Beyond make less money than the first two films in the series? Yes:

Star Trek: $385,680,446 worldwide
Star Trek: Into Darkness: $467,381,469 worldwide
Star Trek: Beyond: $243,737,006 worldwide

When compared to the other two, it would give the appearance of the third film underperforming, which, to be honest, it has. But to suggest that a movie, which will climb over $250 million worldwide, at least, is a bomb...I respectfully disagree.
It's a bomb right now. And unless it cleans up in Asia and Latin America over the next couple months, it'll remain that way. The worldwide dropoff from Into Darkness is only part of the problem. The movie also cost $185 million to make. That's an inexcusably high budget for a Star Trek movie. If Paramount does plan to make a 4th film in the rebooted series, they'll have the slash that in half to maintain profitability.

Personally, I don't think we'll see a 4th one. The bad box office, muted reception, and passing of Anton Yelchin might spell doom for the franchise on the big screen.
