One's considerably more understandable than the other though.

Eh. Charlize was... fine in Fury Road. But, I'm perfectly fine with someone else playing her character.

I don't want a prequel, but if I had to get one I'd prefer the whole thing to be animated, so that the younger Furiosa actually looked like Theron. Animation would offer Hollywood so much creative freedom if only they stopped looking at it as just adult comedy and children's stuff.

I'm surprised a different actress will play an ADULT Furiosa. Theron isn't old! If they wanted to do this, they probably should have made her a child.

Theron's aged marvelously, but not to the point where she could pull off playing herself at age twenty or whatever.

I'm not saying she should, but it's gonna look stupid having a (then) 39-year-old and a 20-year-old play the same character. Middle age doesn't even start until forty at least.

Charlize is 44. She may not look it, but she is.

I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being a bit of a bait and switch, using an existing character to draw in audiences for the story of another character.

The main attraction of being a prequel for me would be allowing us to see more of Immortan Joe and his brothers history plus how he builds his cult like following.

She was 39, in the same age group (young adult) as the actress who will replace her. What I'm saying is that if Furosia isn't gonna be a child or animated, then just don't do it. I'm sick of Hollywood's obsession with prequels.

Generally yes but I do have a good deal of faith in Miller, I wouldn't be surprised if a prequel made funding easier but I doubt he would have taken that route if he didn't think there was potential for something interesting.

Actually, I just learned Jodie Comer, if it IS gonna be her, is already 27. A twelve year gap between two young adults. It won't be convincing.

A 27-year-old actress can pull off playing 20 easier than a 44-year-old one.

Neither one should be playing a 20-something version of a 39 year one.

I just HOPE the movie will not feature Max in any form, and the title will be just "FURIOSA".

Let this be a spin-off/prequel movie not hurting the beauty of the Fury Road story-arc.

Always heard Theron was unhappy during production of Fury Road. Her and Hardy didn't get along, she didn't like haveing to wear the green glove for the fx. Thought read one time she was glad it was over and never wanted to play this kind of character again. If all or part of this is true, no wonder she wasn't asked to come back.

Both Hardy and Theron were a headache for Miller. They admittedly didn't get his "vision" during the shooting and acted out their wariness and frustration against the director, to say nothing of the bad blood between the two stars. I think Miller just didn't want to deal with them anymore, so he chose the prequel route instead.

Also heard that Hardy was not easy to work with in this. Him and Theron were great in their roles, to bad this mat hinder them from returning. Specially Hardy, Gibson will always be the best Max but Hardy did good in this.

The whole New York Times piece is an interesting read.
