Stern professional with furrowed brow in tailored pants suit (cop, doctor, lawyer, etc.) spouts a relevant monologue of grim statistics or talking points "out of the news" to her bland, hunky second-in-command without any character nuance.

Not to mention, "experts are baffled..." comment. If the experts are baffled, they are not expert enough.

That made me laugh.

Not really a trope, but I hate when semi-automatics "click-click-click" when they run out of bullets. This happens in movies too. When it happens, often the slide won't be back either. It's especially annoying when it happens on a show that features lots of guns like cop or military shows. Don't they have a weapons consultant on hand or do they just ignore them when it comes to that part in order to "build suspense"? It is better when they have a shooter that has never really handled a gun before not realise the safety is on. I don't shoot often but when I first started, I would sometimes forget to take the safety off while lining up my first shot at a range. However, that too is becoming a common trope in TV and movies alike.

Season finale cliffhangers. I'm not talking about the ones like in movies where they wrap up the story but then something happens at the last second leaving it open for a sequel with a brand new plot or making you think the bad guy may not actually be dead like originally thought (horror loves this one). Those are fine and get the viewer excited for another season. If another season doesn't come, at least you have closure on most of the story and its characters. No, I'm talking a bout a cliffhanger you might see in the middle of a season for a two part episode that has zero conclusion to the primary story arc.

Older shows in the early 2000s would end a story arc at the end of the season but sometimes leave a few threads open ended or create new revelation to get the viewers to tune into a possible next season. Shows today seem to finish their season in a way that you don't even realize it was the season finale as if they just assume they are guaranteed another season. The first show that comes to mind is both season 1 and 2 of Dead To Me. For both finales, my wife and I had no idea the season had ended until we realized there were no more episodes to watch. No closure at all, not even with the minor subplots. Fortunately, they did get a 3rd season and know it will be their final one, but had they been cancelled, it would have ruined the show's rewatchability (not sure if that is really a word).

For a few years tv has been filled with shows which were mostly constant pop-culture references. I hated that and it was unbearable to me.
Another thing that I grew to hate after House MD was the billion of shows with the darky protagonist who is the best in doing his job but is completely unable "socially".

People who drink drugged beverages are immediately knocked out.

People who have brain surgery somehow still have a full head of hair.

People who are being chased leave a crowded area and run to a secluded spot.

More of a pet peeve: Clip shows. Totally lazy way to fill an episode.

When a man or woman hears a noise they have to go see what it was..but they take the time to put on a robe and slippers.[they might get cold or be embarrassed if the killer/or prowler sees them in pajamas.]

also when someone is stalking around with a shotgun and they proceed to rack in a shell after every sound [thereby ejecting the unused shells..thus emptying their gun.]

I know what you mean though, it's ubiquitous in sitcoms for decades. Fat useless husband and hotwife. Heck, you see it in the likes of The Simpsons and Family Guy!

Some of the funniest parts of that movie were the hot women swooning over Farrell's character and Wahlberg's reaction to it.

Lack of urgency. Monster on Supernatural is going on a killing spree 12 states away, so the Winchesters drive there. Fortunately, the monster waited the entire time before killing again.

This happens in TV and movies. I hate when a person asks someone else after searching for someone, or something, has the other person seen or found anything. Don't you think they would lead with that?

I can remember watching Smokey And The Bandit in the theaters back in 1977 and saw Jerry Reed get tossed into a pile of empty Coors boxes. So obvious but that was a very low budget movie, even for the time.

I mainly notice it in shows from the '70s.
