It's a shame that recent Fox titles, apart from Simpsons, have all been downgraded to DVD, and DVD-R at that. Hopefully since Vikings is MGM and not Fox, MGM will get somebody else to continue the BDs.

I just received and tested my Homeland Season 7 blu-ray set. It was ordered from Amazon and order fulfilled by Amazon UK. Total cost was $20.50 delivered after shipping & sales tax. As previously mentioned, the rear cover art indicates it is region B. However, all the discs display the region A/B/C logo. All the discs load up and start playing just fine in my Region A Panasonic blu-ray player. There are absolutely no extra features of any kind in this set. I have not watched the series yet, but will shortly.

I just finished watching season 8, and man... they really hit it out of the park with this final season. I wasn’t a huge fan of the Keane storyline in the past couple of seasons, so I was very happy with season 8, as it felt like they really went back to the roots/origins of the show, both with the plot/story itself and the character interactions. It seemed like the writers had tremendous inspiration and focus to bring this show to the finish line in a thrilling, satisfying way.

I’ve been watching since the first season premiered but I only ever picked up seasons 1-3 on Blu-ray, so I came here to buy the rest of the series only to find that they issued season 7 on DVD only. How obnoxious. Perhaps they will release a complete series set?

It's Fox, and the only studio worse than Fox is Disney... and now they're the same thing lol Everybody had hoped once some shows ended that Mill Creek would get licenses, like The Americans, but now that's probably never going to happen...

You can get 1-6 in the US and then get s7 from the UK since it's secretly region free, and maybe s8 will also come out in the UK as well.

It better do! And it better have a slip too because I have all seven seasons with mint slipcovers so far...

It's not up to Showtime, it's up to Fox... so it definitely won't happen in the US, they dropped a ton of shows even before they went to Disney which is even worse than Fox was about TV on BD. There might be a 1-8 box set in the UK since they often like to release a 1-xx after each season, but ultimately who knows.

Oh, Disney... then there's no hope.

No release announcement for S8 yet. Not even in the UK. Have a feeling they won’t release the last season, ugh. Or they will just release it as a dvd, who knows.

Disney hasn't even released Agents of SHIELD s6 in the UK yet which ended over a year ago... and it's a title they owned already instead of one they acquired like Homeland. Now that Fox is under Disney, it seems like even international releases are drying up. Or maybe it's COVID delays. Hopefully it's the latter, I personally won't ever pay more than $30 for 13 episodes, so the Japan release of AoS is out of the question.

Yep; got me a little worried about S8 as well. I have 1-7, having bought S7 via the U.K. Not sure why S7 has still not seen a U.S. release (U.K only!)? S8 finished it's Showtime run back in April so I had hoped that we would see, at least, an announcement by now, especially since the series is done.

The Homeland Showtime TV series is one of my family members favorite premium cable/satellite TV series, and they own all 6 seasons of Homeland on the Blu-ray format (official USA region A versions). However, it is disappointing that seasons 7 and 8 were never released on the Blu-ray format in the United States. When a studio releases a TV series on Blu-ray they need to release the entire series or it hurts the Blu-ray format when one or two seasons are not being released. Now I see that on August 13th 2019 that Homeland season 7 was released on the 480i DVD format in the USA, and a 1080P Blu-ray for season 7 released in other countries outside of the USA (and region free also). But when it comes to seasons 8 of Homeland which is the last season, that season is only offered on digital HD streaming on Amazon’s website and VUDU’s website, and so far season 8 has not been released even on the 480i DVD format anywhere in the world. People that collect DVD’s instead of Blu-rays will be upset if they cannot get the last season on DVD, and will have to get the digital HD streaming version instead.

Maybe season 8 of Homeland was delayed for an optical disc release and might come in 2021. Fans of this series are hoping for a season 7 and season 8 Blu-ray release in the United States one day to complete their collection, at the very minimum one can purchase season 7 on a region free Blu-ray disc import, but if one has to purchase a VUDU HD streaming version of the final version, then some collectors of physical media will be upset.

I'm hoping that they decide to do a mega boxset of the whole shebang and then release season 8 along with it.

Really annoyed because I could have recorded the series but decided to wait for the blu-ray like I usually do.

It's never going to get released in the US, it's a Disney title now. They don't even release the stuff they owned before they bought Fox. The best hope is that the UK or maybe Australia or somewhere gets the final season eventually... if not, it joins the ever growing list of shows that get dropped on BD for the final 1-2 seasons.

I don't get mad that I have to buy it on digital or DVD, because I simply won't buy it at all now. It's a crazy catch-22. Shows don't sell well so studios drop them, but then the consumer doesn't want to invest in TV on BD because it's always getting dropped, which leads to lower sales which leads to less releases which leads to even lower sales.

You're probably right. I have every season with slipcovers including the clear version from season one. I was quite disappointed that the blu was dropped in the US and I had to finally import it. IIRC, sales for previous seasons on blu were not enough to justify a release for season seven, hence why there is only the DVD. The market still exists in the UK for Homeland on blu, so it was released over there. Those releases were by Fox21, pre-Disney control.

Unfortunately, Disney would have to allow a release outside the US since they control the distribution rights. Fox21 might still release the final season in UK. We will just have to wait and see. I don't see Disney licensing it out either.
