I just came back from seeing "Geostorm" and all I can say is, I enjoyed the movie and the 3D. I hope we get a 3D release from some part of the world.

If one goes in with the expectation to be entertained without being critical of the concept of satellites controlling weather, then there is fun to be had in Geostorm as a science fiction thriller with some disaster scenes (20 to 25 minutes worth including the final scene with the

[Show spoiler]lightning and the car chase

). It's mostly about Gerard Butler's character trying to solve the mystery of

[Show spoiler]who is messing up his weather machine and why.

I'll admit, I enjoyed the movie for what it offers.

I'd like to see this on blu ray 3D in the US or anywhere.

there's no 3D showings around, only 2D (that including the theater I work).

But yeah, it's too bad it tanked in theaters in the US. It's entertaining and I actually enjoyed the story a lot more than Transformers Last Knight. The 3D I felt was overall better too other than Transformers' Last Knights' final act, which looks great in 3D.

Just saw this in 3D. People from Warner China told me it was shot in native but obviously it was converted 3D. Though a decent conversion. Film itself is bad, not dumb enough to provide the fun, nor serious enough to deliver solid plot.

One of the strongest 3D shots in Geostorm is when Butler and the woman gear up in space suits and have to dislodge a device stuck inside of metal flexible bars. We see the bars in the foreground, and they astronauts floating towards them, with the space station layering behind. That shot looks amazing in 3D even with the bars in view, thanks to the impressive distance between the separation of the layers. A nice number of 3D shots in this one.

IMDB lists it as native 3D as well. I'm sure even if native 3D was used, there would be some conversion as well (particularly as there were reshoots done by another director), but not that it really matters in my mind, as I enjoyed the 3D presentation either way.

Watched this last night. About 12 other people in the theater which I think is good for a weeknight 9 pm showing with major competition like Madea Boo2.

3D looked great at times. Movie was decent, but don't expect anything too realistic. Explosions, for example, seem to take 5 minutes or more. I feel asleep for about 30 min right in the middle.

Again, good 3D'and I'm curious how it will look at home.

The good news is, this import release blu ray 3D release of Geostorm 3D is region free.
I actually enjoyed the movie and the 3D so I'll probably get this down the road.
