Michael J. Fox disliked this film so much that he refused to return for the sequel. In an interview at the time, while Back to the Future (1985) was in production, he lamented, "Steven Spielberg's down the street making great movies and I'm playing a werewolf".

This article is an interesting read, too.

Yes I liked the sequel & animated series also. Wish they had made a 3rd movie with a female Teen Wolf. Although the Mtv series borrowed the Scott & Stiles character names from the movies, I've never really associated the show with movies. It takes the concept of a "Teen Wolf" and expands it to darker extremes but each can be enjoyed in their own way.

There was an animated series?! I didn't even know it existed before now but suddenly I feel I'll be disappointed if it's not somehow included in this release.

Yet again, another instance where I'm glad I held off on the previous release. This will make a nice set. Well done SF!

Yep, I remember watching it some time in the mid to late 80s... "Teen Wooolf, coming out to play...." was all I remember from the theme song.

Maybe some people that enjoy the movies also like the TV-Show. The first season of the show has been out on Blu-Ray here in Germany for a couple of weeks now. I've posted some pics and information about the Blu-Ray-Set in the "Germany-Area".

New transfer for the first one.

Quote:
***TEEN WOLF & TEEN WOLF TOO Update***

We end the week on a howling good note by providing some early details on two previously-announced horror-comedy favorites!

- Release date: 8/8/17

- Both Blu-ray releases will be branded as "Collector's Editions" that will come with a slipcover (guaranteed for three months after its original release date).

- The newly-commissioned artwork pictured on both (which purposely complement each other) comes to us from artist Paul Shipper (Escape from New York, The Thing). The reverse side of the wraps will showcase the original theatrical poster art designs.

- Bonus features and specs are still in progress and will be announced sometime in June. We can confirm though that we will be doing a new film transfer on the first film!

- Pre-order now directly from our website which includes shipping two weeks early plus a free collectible 18” x 24” rolled poster of the newly-designed key art (while supplies last)!

I totally forgot these will be 2 separate releases. I don't think they'll do as well with the sequel but the first is an 80's classic.

Perhaps they are going to provide a new scan not only for the improved picture quality, but for the added benefit of being able to scan the deleted scenes...!!!??? One can only hope...

Separate releases? Risky move, Shout. Jason Bateman is a likable guy and all, but how many people are seriously throwing down $20 for a Blu-ray of Teen Wolf Too?

Are they hoping the success of the Teen Wolf MTV series will inspire sales?

Well, I will be buying both.

*Every film deserves its own individual release, it is a complement to the filmmakers and fans. The films were made, released theatrically and on VHS individually. So there is that merit. And Shout! has the option to create a two pack later own.

I wholeheartedly agree! I usually don't like when movies are thrown together on a single disc or package, mainly because it feels cheap and bargain bin-like, but I don't know if releasing something separately, especially if one or more of the films in the set isn't particularly well-liked, is a good strategy. These indy labels live or die by the number of sales they generate, and, going by the average reaction, it seems like most people will be skipping picking up the second film. Actually, doing separates really is a good idea in this case since this will give people a choice of picking up one or both and they won't be saddled with a movie they don't like.

While not related, I watched a movie last night on Hulu called Bubba the Redneck Werewolf that left me in stitches. Very self aware and tongue in cheek horror/comedy that somewhat reminded of a sleezier version of Teen Wolf. Loved it.

Some people here threw the cash down for Robocop 3 special edition. Willingly.

I'm going to Google the trailer for it right now.
