Looks like the steelbook is. But presumably the non-steelbook version isn't an exclusive?

Crap. This Star Troopers thing, got me confused. To come back on my October release, it was the Animated Movie version after all. There is Star Troopers (1997) planned for now in The Netherlands. This could be a USA/Best Buy exclusive first.

I don't. I think it's gonna look scrumptious in UHD.

This is one of those soundtracks that, if some effort was put into it, the Dolby Atmos remix could be aggressively stunning.

For movies this old (Starship Troopers and The 5th Element) 4k, I'm waiting until black Friday to make those purchases. I won't pay full price.

I remember the 8-SDDS theatrical mix in the cinema - the frontal soundstage was aggressive as sin - the rapid explosions of the bombings of the caves was soul rattling

They don't even have an image up yet and think people are going to pre-order it. No thanks. Hilarious, considering one of the major factors in buying steelbooks is the artwork they choose for it. Without knowing what the artwork looks like, I have no idea if the steelbook would even be worth it over a standard case. Unless it's a Best Buy exclusive title. Then I guess the art wouldn't matter if you want it at all.

I don't care what the art is gonna be. $25 for one of my favorite movies ever on UHD in a SteelBook? No brainer. You bet your ass I pre-ordered it!

I got BatmanVSuperman UHD for like 8 or 9 bucks on Black Friday. It was as much as I was ever willing to pay for that movie.

I do hope Sony put some love in the rescan of ST. Its one of my ten favorite movies of all time (not saying its a "great" movie, just one of the ten funnest and most rewatchable), have purchased it several times, but the bluray is looking pretty bad these days compared to other films.

I've always though it was quite a schizophrenic presentation, one minute looking a bit janky and edgy and the next it looks as sharp and well-defined as anything I've seen on the format.

Much like Fifth Elephant and indeed The Mummy the movie is at the mercy of the state of post-production technology at the turn of the millennium: digital VFX recorded back out to film plus some old-school opticals, factor in the camera original and there's three distinct kinds of 'look' that the content has in terms of detail and sharpness and whatever artefacts relate to the first two processes.

Read Paul Sammon's making of book the other day, it's not as in-depth as I'd like but it still gave me a new appreciation of the making of the movie. NOW WHERE's MAH FORKAY EDITION??

Havent seen it in a while but even on my old setup I noticed a fair difference in PQ in the space scenes compared to other scenes.
