Wil the GKIDS release of Spirited Away have the same extras as the Disney one though? Some of the extras, especially the Nippon TV special are really nice. I also prefer the Disney cover art, as it's less cropped than the GKIDS one, but that's a minor nitpick.

Since their releases are distributed by Universal, expect to see them at same low range Uni BD prices are.

Right now on DMC, Cat Returns is 19.95 so they probably don't have it at a high MSRP. FYI I got Ocean Waves and Marnie at 23, and Only Yesterday at 20 new release. These are Ghibli so they demand a higher price, but Universal does go on sale a little more often than Disney. ![]() |

Any chance this means we'll get Kiki's Delivery Service with the older Disney dub track (last seen on the 2003 DVDs I think) with the extra Phil Hartman lines and the English songs?

Define inferior dub becuase I've never seen the movie at all. The movie is too new to have multiple dubs and even if it does, Disney would be the one to put quality into their dub like they have with Spirited Away, Howl, Nasica, etc.
Is Pom Poko really dubtitled? I thought Disney fixed the dubtitles like they did on the Miyazaki Collection set. |

There are two dubs of Arrietty: An American one that was released by Disney starring some of their stars at the time, Bridgit Mendler and David Henrie, in the lead roles, and a UK dub by StudioCanal, starring Saoirse Ronan and a pre-Spider-Man Tom Holland. From what I understand, the UK Blu-ray includes both dubs, while the Region 1 release from Disney only includes their dub. Time will tell what is "studio-approved" in this case.

I enjoy both English dubs but the only thing that bothers me about the Disney one is they thrown in a song from bridgit mendler. I don't hate the actress but I don't like when they thrown in a song like that. It doesn't fit the film at all. I prefer to hear the score even if it is just in the credits.

Arrietty was based on the Borrowers series. The name changes were more than likely done to match the books' English origins. In addition, the changed names were for characters that didn't have defined names in the books or were composite characters.
Studio Ghibli signed off on these things so once again, why are complaining about a non-issue? The films were not produced in English nor were they designed for English-speaking audiences. But reading about the UK dub, I am quite impressed by that cast. |
