This might sound exciting, but what it means is that this series is going to be a humongous money sink for Netflix and will need to be a humongous hit for enough years to make it even remotely viable. That means it ha to be treated with more respect and dignity than something like The Witcher, which made waves with s1 but was so horrendously adapted that you knew the wheels would fall off very quickly if the writers didn't have a clue where to take their new bastardised story. |

Yeah like for example the battle against Kaido and Gear 5, that alone would be so expensive like that season alone, or the Battle at the Marine Fort with that amount of Charakters. Hey even the Battle for Alabasta won't be easy

[Show spoiler] Also I think a better way of seeing how much of one piece the live action has covered is by manga chapters, because past episode 300, instead of doing as many filler episodes the anime mostly just stretched out canon episodes so it doesn't get caught up with the manga. So 1000+ episodes looks impressive, but if the anime had been following the manga at a proper pace it might only be at like ep 600 right now. Manga wise, the live action covers up to chapter 96. The manga is on chapter 1091, so it's covered about 9% of One Piece. |

So is this actually a good Netflix anime adaption? They've seemingly failed every time so far. Thats why I've been hesitant to watch this.

-the originals not being very good or running to long to begin with (Syrup & Baratie) -desire to bring forward things from later arcs to give them a better grounding -having to speed things up because they originally had 10 eps and it was cut to 8 The last arc kinda suffers from the speed up but it's still good imo. This was the best shonen to live action adaptation I've seen. The showrunner very obviously loves One Piece. |

Yes it is pretty good especially the cast did a great job. I read the showrunner asked Writer Oda if he can Skip Don Krieg and does some changes with Arlong.
The Luffy Actor watched the whole Anime Series after he got the job and one of the Camera Women has seen the whole series with her kid. So yeah they did a good job and their research ![]() My wife and I are big One Piece Fans, especially me and I really had a lot of fun with the Live Action Version |

One Piece is currently #1 in 86 countries on Netflix. Surpassing it's previous record of #1 in 84 countries.😊
I’m really digging this. My concern is after this arc the battles only get bigger, with more characters and even crazier powers. It’s going to be expensive. |

On a german News Site I read one Episode One Piece costs 16 Mio Dollar. Oh man and thats just the beginning, with the easy Action.
Even the Alabasta Story with the Fight against Crocodile and the Baroque Crew will made the Episodes so expensive. |

As someone who's only watched the first 100 or so eps of the anime many years ago (basically a newcomer at this point), I really enjoyed this adaptation. I think the live action has the advantage over the anime in its action scenes. The anime's animation is pretty average, so it's nice to see fights with some proper choreography. I liked the show enough that I started watching the anime again (which is also on Netflix conveniently enough).
![]() I'm glad to hear it's doing well and apparently beat Stranger Things and Wednesday numbers? |

I absolutely LOVED IT.
This, Alice in Borderland, and Battle Angel are my three favourite live-action anime of all time. I'll so far as to hate I've hated the others I have seen. I cannot believe One Piece and Cowboy Beebop are from the same studio, I couldn't even get through the first episode before dropping it. |

After hearing a lot of good word of mouth about this show, I decided to check out the first episode and I really enjoyed it. They clearly spent a lot of money on this and it looks great. The cast is a lot of fun. I really like the character Roronoa Zorro, played by Mackenyu. He's a total badass with his three swords. What has impressed me most about this show are the fight scenes. They’re choreographed very well with nice wide shots so you can see all the action.
I’m looking forward to continuing the series, but I’m only going to watch one episode a night because I don’t want to burn myself out by bingeing. It's definitely quirky and I can see that turning some people off, but it's working for me. |

I have been an anime fan for-EVER. Like as Speed Racer in '72 was my first anime ever, although it was really Star Blazers where I identified these as cartoons from a place called "japan".
So as a fan of the genre, I've certainly known the name - it's one of the 800 pound gorillas of anime, one of THE names that everyone will know, like Gundam, or Macross. But despite having heard of the series, I never watched until last Christmas where I went "Ah what the hell." and watched the first 8 or 10 episodes. I enjoyed it, it was a fun evening's entrainment, but I wasn't in the mood for getting into an 900+ episode series. And so I kind of drifted away, intending to get back, but never quite finding the time. And then, I'm finishing up the live action Zenigata series and saw that "Hey, they adapted One Piece". Sure, what the hell. And holy crap, I'm having a blast with it! Like I said, I know nothing about the series and only vaguely remember the show beyond the basic premise from my 8 episodes (and honestly, I had smoked a bunch of Jazz Cigarettes, so it didn't really stick), but the characters are fun, the plot moves along at a nice clip, the action is solid, the fights are all well choreographed, and I'm just having a good time with it over all. Once I finish up, I'll have to go back and check out anime. At least until I catch up where Netflix finishes off. |

I finally watched the pilot episode, and holy sh*t it's actually really f*cling good! Netflix surprisingly didn't screw this one up like they did with Cowboy Bebop and Resident Evil.
Moreover, I'm glad NF OP got its own opening though I sure would have liked to have heard a remix of the original during a scene or something: |

Finished the first season and wow, it's actually superb! I loved the cast, but especially the guy who plays Luffy, he really feels like he's a real life version of him.
Is there anything I disliked? The battle against Arlong was a bit underwhelming, liked the earlier ones better. Hope a Season 2 is in the works. ![]() |
