It just looks overall like a Western comic book. I actually like it, but it's inappropriate considering this is a Japanese production and he Westernized it.

I looked up Whilce Portacio's art and he's REALLY good, just not a good choice for Naruto, though.

It's too bad because I would have bought this. I've got the next 4 movie set coming from RightStuf next week. Hopefully they don't use this guys art when and if the original series gets a Blu-ray.

I wonder if the "Collectors Edition" tag means there will be a non-commissioned artwork version later...If so, I really don't know if I should wait or just get the bad art just for comedy value.

You and me both. I like the first movie, wouldn't have minded owning it on Blu-ray. I'm just so turned off because of that art.

I'll be clinging to my DVDs for the superior artwork and extras, I've got the original releases with the bonus discs, the DVD movie collection dropped those, the same thing happened to the first 2 Bleach movies.

Marvel fans might see this Naruto Blu-ray and then buy due to the cover art style, but it's misleading because the actual content is nothing like it.

I wasn't a fan of Portacio even when he was hugely popular in the early '90s due to his work on the X-Men books, and I think he only got worse with age.

I mean, I get why they did it. They’re hopping onto that SteelBook bandwagon. Viz’s usual modus operandi of plopping the movie posters on the front cover would have still solicited derision from fans. The fact is if they had acquired the talents of say Jim Lee, we’d be having a different conversation right now.

My overall reaction is meh could be worse. Like ya it looks a bit weird but I can see what they are going for.

Just be glad it’s not as bad as the flintstones cover art or should I say:
