10bit/HDR is still probably enough of a reason though. |

Still wondering if the DVD from Target is worth it. What's on it anyway? |

The movies have abysmal bit rates, less than 10 MBps most of the times, especially the first 2 movies. I've never personally seen bit rates so low on blu-ray for a high budget movie. The PQ is still pretty good though. But the 3rd movie (Freed) had a ton of audio issues. 15-20 times during the movie the audio just drops out completely for about a second. It's repeatable, so not a momentary glitch. The closest thing I can compare it too is audio draops for the blu-ray or Total Recall (2012 version). Although those were extended drops and only occurred past the half way point, whereas these were momentary drops and occurred throughout. The second movie (Darker) has a 2 channel English audio track which has some kind of copyright protection issue or something and if you have an updated blu-ray player it will disable the audio at certain points and put up a message that the audio has been disabled. It's a Cinavia error message. I had never seen something like this before ever. It doesn't happen if you use the 7.1 track. I always use 2 channel track if there is one since I just listen through the TV speakers and those surround tracks come out real quiet. I couldn't do that, because the audio just keeps getting forcibly disabled. So I was pretty disappointed about these audio issues and the picture bit rate, but I was definitely happy there are no major pause bar issues, and overall it was a pretty positive experience rewatching these on BD. When I first watched these, they were years apart, as they were released. But really it's almost a continuous story, and there are constant minor references to the previous movies that you only pick up on if you just watched them. So back to back to back I think is the best way to watch these. I guess that will probably be how anybody with the box set watches them though. ![]() |

I ended up emailing Universal from the Universal Redeem page and they gave me a code for the unrated but I had to take like 10 photos showing the case, disc, a printed copy of my Amazon order all with a sticky note with my ticket number lol. Not sure it was worth the effort haha

Does the bonus features in the complete collection include the bonus features that were exclusive to the target versions of each of these films or would we have to track down those versions in addition to the 4ks to get the complete round of bonus features?

If anyone is still a fan of this franchise (I'm not but I thought I would post this), there's a steelbook release of all three films on the way. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Fifty...lu-ray/284208/
