But you aren't getting the best SQ AND PQ at the same time on your hd-dead discs, so it is a compromise everytime you watch a hd-dead disc.

When Universal goes Blu-ray. End of Days will be first Blu-ray rebuy for me! Only 29 HD DVD are from Universal or/And Wiestin Picture. While 42 come from Warner Bros and Paramount. Total 71.

Only 24 out of 42 have been rebrought or recovered into Blu-ray from my previous collection. It is combination Warner Bros and Paramount titles, excluded Transformers.

7 titles are not released on Blu-ray yet, these are Warner Bros titles. So I can complete with 11 titles remain to caught up within 2 to 3 months.

Give it a rest. HD-DVD still look great. Most Blu-ray have same or similar PQ. It won't be until after HD-DVD is dead that PQ on Blu-rays really peak I think anyway. Even just now Blu-ray are starting to pull really high bitrates on some titles. Lossless on HD-DVD isn't that bad and both formats contain movies with compressed audio.

Let's not pick on our members just because they have both formats. They are still here posting on the Blu-ray forums and are BD fans. If anything people like you will drive purples away.

Mulholland Dr and the Bourne series that's it. I think? Damn how could I forget one of the best Vietnam war films of all time, Robert De Niro and Chistopher Walkin in the Deer Hunter.

One of the reasons many of the HD DVD movies look ans sound a bit dismal is not so much due to the technology itself (although disc capacity and bitrate does play a role), but the fact that Universal a WB have done a piss poor job at releasing many of their titles. Universal especially needs to do a better job because many of their HD DVD titles are less than stellar. To WB's credit, they've been forced to dumb down many of their releases because they had to make sure that the content would fit onto HD DVD discs. But when they officially become Blu-ray exclusive, that argument is not going to be made for them anymore.

I would say "American Gangster" would be a nice first one.
(To celebrate the victory )

After that, they can bring on "Scarface".

I don't care what Uni puts out on BD.
Just PLEASE make DTS standard (at LEAST the "core" 1.5 Mbps) on all their BDs, particularly Uni films from 1993 - present!!!!

As much as I like this film, I won't be buying it when it comes on Blu-ray. Due to it's independent film-like low picture quality, you won't be able to see any difference when it's remastered for high-def. Just read the reviews for it on HD DVD, they're not very favorable. And it's not for the lack of trying on Universal's part either, but that HD DVD version is as good as this movie will ever look, unfortunately.

You do realise PCM and TrueHD are superior to DTS core right?
