Would they have to re-render anything or would this be the same render that they used for the BD?

Still following the same pattern as the rest, mind you: they've got a sequel to shill, might as well get in there with a cash-in. That said, Disney didn't bother with the previous Cars or Pirates or Guardians of the Galaxy/MCU in general movies to go with their other releases, nor did they release TFA or Rogue One to go with Last Jedi, so even this small step is something to be VERY thankful for despite the snarky start to this post.
![]() People can dream about a White Christmas all they want, but if this is a sign that Disney are finally getting a bit more confident about UHD catalogue releases (even if just as a sequel/reboot tie-in) then we could be getting some awesome stuff on UHD in time for the Holiday season. |

If you have a 70 inch 4k display and sit 10 feet away, your ability to resolve 4k is less than someone sitting from a 32 inch display at average distances. To fully appreciate 4k, you need to be closer than 4feet with a 30 inch monitor. To fully appreciate 4k, you need to be closer than 9 feet two inches with a 70 inch display. |

You can do all the math on paper you want but not doesn't always tell the entire story or even the truths. I'll tell you a quick story. Stacey Spears of spectracal shared a story with us back in late 2016 regarding film grain on the early 4k movies. According to Stacy, the film makers in post were adding grain to the image but didn't think it was enough so they kept adding more. The problem was that they were doing this on small monitor and the grain wasn't very visible (dispite sitting close during grading). When they later viewed the content on a larger consumer TV, they realized they put too much grain into the picture. They now keep a larger consumer TV on hand to double check these issues. But i stil betting the above mentioned person was looking at 4k on a 32" monitor. So don't always assume that sitting closer to a smaller TV is the same as larger TV and being farther back. Future proofing also is a factor as tvs are getting larger and larger and exposing more flaws in the picture. Last edited by ray0414; 03-13-2018 at 08:50 PM. |
