I really hope the US 3D edition has the frame breakage like Sony did with the Ghostbusters remake - saw this this morning and as others have noted the 3D does not disappoint. So much of this seems as if the 3D was integral to the whole grandiose experience - my jaw was on the floor.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald 3D Review
3D Conversion by: Gener8 and Stereo D

3D Previews:
Captain Marvel: The 3D in the trailer is very good.
Mortal Engines: Again, it had medium 3D layers in the trailer.

Today i saw this movie in 3D and i'm gonna agree with those who saw the movie in 3D, the 3D is indeed fantastic, this movie is really made with 3D in mind and it truly shows, yeah there some shots in this movie are not very well lit (and i wish those dark scene were brightend a little bit more), but it didn't stop me from enjoying the great depth and fantastic pop outs (they really didn't shy away from pop outs in this movie and they went went all out with the pop outs in this movie), the 3D doesn't disappoint, from the opening sequence all the way to the very end of this movie the 3D is outstanding, it's so hard to really pick out what scene impressed me the most in 3D, what a fantastic conversion it is.

I just wish the movie was a bit better, not the best story either.

I did stay during the credits to see who converted this movie and i saw that Gener8 and Stereo D were the ones credited for the film's 3D conversion, my hat really goes off to them for this impressive stereoscopic conversion, it was very well done.

Saw it at Regal RPX 3D and when the "put your 3D glasses on" frame came up and 3D was not working I complained. It took them 10 minutes and 2 more complaints before the 3D switchover was engaged and they didn't even start it over. Got 2 free passes out of it but I want to catch that first 10 minutes though. 4th time this has happened at a Regal theater for me. They can't bother to have someone up there to make the changeover when there was a previous 2D showing. Everything else can be automated but this.

I saw it Monday. Depth is medium for the most part, but the popouts are very good and entertaining. I didn't like how dark it was. Even in a Cinemark theater, it felt darker than it should be.

The same thing happened to me at an AMC Theater... Took them a good 10 minutes to get the 3D engaged. Apparently there is an early 3D sequence that is one of the best in the movie and we apparently missed it.

My view is quite the reverse. I think it adds significant impact when used judiciously, and can be magical with strong popouts. Although it's like underlining words or exclamation points!!! If they're used non-stop it loses its power.

It's a tool I think more films could use to good effect.

I saw this in 3D Imax, and it is spectacular. Would that all 3D conversions were on this level, and all theatrical presentations could match Imax.

Right from the start I was impressed. Even the WB logo looked incredible, it just kept coming to the screen and was truly massive when it popped out.

There's really too much to single out anything in particular. There are major set pieces at regular intervals the whole way through, each with stereoscopy implemented effectively in a variety of ways. No one is going to walk out feeling they didn't get their money's worth or 'the glasses do nothing'.

In the majority of cases the frame-breaking was artfully done, and a deft piece of showmanship that transformed the theatrical experience into a magical affair. There was an early scene I liked with a hamster-like creature that had a chain hanging out of the screen, and subsequently got shot out of screen on a bottle cork. Later on there were cat-like creatures that swung their tails out of the screen beyond the black bars. This was all highly effective to my eyes, but it's just the tip of the iceberg of what they did. There were maybe a few scenes where they blur the line a bit too much to the point where the underlying logic of the window frame was called into question, but it was definitely more a positive than a negative.

There were entire scenes that seemed to have been planned and executed with 3D in mind. It did not seem an afterthought, or a mere viewing option. It felt like this should be the only way anyone should be seeing this.

The character design and animation are a high watermark for this sort of thing. I felt it was a level of sophistication well beyond at the majority of the previous Harry Potter series. I was particularly struck with the design of one Chinese beast. Incidentally, these are all designs that work wonderfully in three dimensions, beautifully posed with a range of shape and texture that is just a wonderful sight to behold.

I was carried along with the audio-visual aspects for the entire first half of the film. The 3D, the surround sound, the production design, settings and visual effects. The story itself could have been more engaging, but these cinematic elements went a long way to making up for this. I feel the 3D Imax version is a significantly more entertaining film than what most people will be seeing. It still lags in the middle somewhat, but comes together in the build up to the climax.

Highly recommended.

Saw it last night and the 3-D is awesome. Looking forward to watching it again in 3-D at home.

I don’t get why they don’t leave the 3D boxes engaged on the projector, it has minimal interference on a 2D show anyways (pretty much impossible to see any difference). That’s pure laziness.

Where in the world did you see this in IMAX 3D? Can't find it in Denver, just 3D-killer RealD.

I'm on the other side of this now. When I watch Life of Pi it's more distraction than addition. Anything that brings attention to the area within a letterbox bar is distracting to me though...so that's just me.

G-force is a lesson in what happens when you go overboard on this feature. I find the windowboxing thing a little less distracting, but equally unwarranted.

If the movie were 2d, I would agree with you. If it's done right, you shouldn't feel you are looking at something in the letterbox bar, you should feel you are seeing something in the extreme foreground that is right in the theater with you.

It's like anything in cinema, you can do it right or do it wrong. The same is often said for 3D in general. Frame breaking has been used in relatively few movies to date, and some movies that use the technique effectively also have scenes that could be seen as a distraction. I saw Ghostbusters projected both with and without frame breaking, and the 3D was significantly better with it.

It's possibly dependent on what's appropriate to the tone and genre. It probably wouldn't make sense in something like Mission Impossible, or The Martian, but for films with ghosts and magical creatures I think it can add to the fun.

That’s true for me as well when I watch 3D on my LG....however in my virtually blacked-out dedicated theater with huge projection screen, these scenes don’t distract at all and in fact increase the immersion.

Well, I would love to have that sort of setup...but I don't, so I'll just have to remain jealous

3D is pretty solid. Medium to high medium at times, with little, but fun popouts.

Got to see this last night here in Manila, probably one of the last days it will be playing in 3D and see it in IMAX. So glad I didn't miss this, what a treat. The 3D was awesome. I liked this one much more than the first, not sure why critics were so hard on this. But this moved the story well, with only a few exceptions the move was well paced, and the 3D was great. Very glad I didn't miss this one.

Previews:
Atila (?) - might be misspelling this but the 3D looks good.
Aquaman - we got an extended look at this, the acting looks pretty bad but this looks incredible, if the 3D in the preview is any indication of the movie, this should be a treat.
Captain Marvel - the 3D looks fine and Marvel is on such a run I'll go watch anything they put out.

So pleased I got a chance to see this movie and see it on IMAX where is really shined.

Making this an Amazon or WB Shop exclusive is not good enough. WB needs to allow Best Buy to carry this as a Blu-Ray 3D+Blu-Ray+Digital. Not buying it from Amazon or WB Shop just so it can arrive ruined. Not sure about Amazon but I am almost positive that returns and exchanges aren't free through WB Shop and I refuse to pay to exchange defective or damaged discs.

Speaking of Amacon, this is an odd entry but it could be the 3D preorder: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KZ35PKP/
