I should've been clearer; most of us know that StudioCanal released a new edition of The Howling last with a new transfer what I would like to know if any chance Scream Factory used that new transfer for their steelbook or the transfer they had before.

There's no way to know until someone gets it. Scream went out of the way to let us know they had a new scan of Lifeforce but not a peep about The Howling. I'm just guessing but most likely they're just repackaging the original disc.

I'm assuming there's still no info on this? I'd buy it in a heartbeat if it was an improved release.

I took my copy to Son of Monsterpalooza this past weekend and Joe Dante signed it for me. I wanted to get Dee Wallace also but it was not in the budget this time.

Was it ever confirmed that this was the new restoration done by StudioCanal in 2017? I know the Zavvi steelbook has that restoration, but I don’t have a region-free player.

Unfortunately, not at this time. I bought the SC steel from Zavvi based on the new restoration but would have preferred the look of the Scream steel book. If you have it in your budget to go region free I highly recommend it. Players aren't out of control price wise and you'd be amazed how many worthy movies are out there.

I ordered the Zavvi steel today at $10 and change shipped to go with the SF version, will make a nice set!

The US Zavvi site now has 20% off plus free shipping on steelbooks if you want to get both!

Only because I liked the artwork on it. Won't be the first movie I have multiple steels of!!

If you're region free no question. The SC new restoration isn't perfect but it's a big improvement over the Scream disc. I happened to see the new Scream steel book in BB today and imo it isn't as nice as I thought it would be as shown in the cover art pics floating around. Zavvi is definitely the way to go in this case.

I have an OPPO and I believe it can be made region free. Just got it 2 months ago and have not used it much.
