Good chance I'll rent it at Redbox and make up my own mind eventually however.
Here is my spoiler free mini review...might change your mind & maybe go see it in a regular theater or even 3D.

Just saw this in 3D last week. I really enjoyed it. Slightly campy but nowhere NEAR Sharknado levels. 3D was pretty good. The particle effects in the foreground gave it that ultra-realistic feel of depth, but I can understand how some may dislike it or find it distracting. There was a lot of good uses of extreme foreground, foreground, middle & background in 3D, even in just regular dialogue scenes with the proper amount focusing back & forth in on the person(s). I don't know what the one guy was talking about the detail being too blurry & no detail in the shark at all, unless he cleaned his 3D glasses with a Brillo Pad Everything looked pretty clear to me except for some blurriness due to my 3D glasses not fitting perfectly over my own glasses. I mean I don't think scenes from 3,500 ft. below sea level (or whatever the depth was) are going to be crystal clear 4k clarity where you can see every piece of seabed grain of sand

Storyline was Ok, not too original but they at least tried to keep it within & realistic & scientific way of bringing the Meg into the movie and not some wild nuclear mutation experiment, etc, etc. Definitely opens up the movie for sequels. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars (4 1/2 if there was an option) as I still would have liked to see even more Shark..but that is a personal nitpick. (That thing was one big ass thick beast...lol)

I didn't expect this to be a HUGE (no pun intended..lol) epic, , timeless, bar raising, Oscar winning summer blockbuster movie....I went to go see a true enjoyable popcorn flick & was very pleased as that is what I got.

The Meg was released in North America by Warner Bros., so, WB Home Video will be releasing it on Blu-ray and 4K. Usually they do support Dolby Atmos on home video formats, although with their 3D titles they usually default to DTS-HD.

Warner releases this in almost all territories worldwide , Universal hasn't got anything to do with this release.
So Dolby Atmos all the way and probably Dolby Vision to.

I pre-ordered the 3D version from Amazon (US) a few weeks ago & I see that the 3D is now listed as "Currently Unavailable". Forgive my ignorance (as I don't usually pre--order movies) but does anybody know if that means the 3D version was scrapped or just that the pre-orders were sold out?

I know I could contact Amazon's customer service but I have a feeling they will just read the screen &/or "cue card" that says it's currently unavailable.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

It seems to be slated for a November release but no official date as of yet nor has a 3D version been officially announced but if they do make a 3D Blu Ray, I still have my Amazon pre-order locked in.

Almost tempted to pick this up for that nice cover but I don't think I'll want to watch this movie ever again.

The current €35 price point would support that, as it’s usual for Warner Brothers’ French 4K + 3D steelbooks (Rampage, Tomb Raider).
But otherwise I see no evidence yet of the 3D being included and/or it being 3 discs, either in that artwork or on Amazon’s (as yet incomplete) product page...
Amazon France isn’t listing any 3D versions at all it seems.

EDIT: Fnac FR have the same steel, same 4K + Blu-ray artwork, same price, but list the 3D as included in the title, and crucially it’s not a Fnac exclusive, so yeah Amazon FR’s one is probably 4K + 3D.

UPDATE: Amazon France is NOT including the 3D in their 4K Steelbook. Fnac France’s product page for the 4K Steelbook DOES state that 3D is included.

Definite pre-order for me. Even at the current $44.99 price tag, Amazon has a great pre-order price guarantee. Statham + Megashark + 4K = Good times.
