Ok, I'm going to share my idea for this release with everyone that I think will make the release better. I've never heard anyone mention this before, so I'm pretty sure I thought of it, and I would like all credit due to me should it happen. Ready? Ok.

They shouldn't use DNR.

Sony is the best for UHDs.

That's just the point. There is no "be all, end all". Each studio has their positives and their negatives. I think Fox and Disney has some UHD presentations that rival Sony and even beat them. There is no ONE studio to rule them all. As for Sony, I don't think all their presentations are spectacular. While I liked Groundhog's Day and Starship Troopers I think there are better UHD presentations that I like from other studios.

I and many others on here disagree. Sony are killing all others you may like Fox and Disney but Fox use DNR even on new movies like Martian and Disney don't put out older stuff so there is no comparison.

I finally watched this in 3D last night thinking a 4K release was coming soon.

Absurd statement.

In fact, this whole comparison of UHDs based on studio is silly. Sony has undoubtedly put out a lot of great looking UHDs, especially their catalog titles, but other studios have as well. Sony doesn't have a monopoly on fantastic looking UHDs.

Ugh, I'm usually fairly forgiving of post-conversions but this one was not all that great. A couple decent shots that have good depth in the jungle, but other than that I was underwhelmed. Glad I only paid $12 for it. Fingers crossed Fox uses the original blu's grain as a benchmark for the 4K, and the jungle and blood get a nice color boost.

Default 100% satisfied

To all my fellow Blu-ray.com members.
I could care less how the transfer quality of the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray edition is.
I could care less how the transfer quality of the other gazillion released editions (VHS, Beta, Laser Disc, Blu-ray) are.
Watched the Ultimate Hunter Edition again last night. Since day one and many viewings later, I've been extremely happy with this edition. I realize the know-it-alls out there will gasp at that statement. Of course, they know better and I bow to their superior intellect.
However, one thing is for sure, I've enjoyed the Ultimate Hunter Edition of this classic film on many occasions. I'm 100% satisfied. It appears the know-it-alls are not.
There is still hope though for you video Einsteins out there. Just give it a few more years, maybe the 8K edition will be the one.

Can we suspend HHAF yet? Or is it too soon.

lol thought I was going to be the only one who saw that and was perplexed by it.

So he does care about the transfer of the UHD. That's what I gathered!

Sure did.

This is what happens when your parents let you drink lead paint, when you were a child.

Also to that point, if he doesn't care about the UHD, why the hell is he even in this sub forum? "100% satisfied." Psh...

That's almost like going into the grocery store and announcing to everyone "I've got all the groceries that I need." and then walking out.

Maybe they should stop in Geoffy's grocery store and try that and see what kind of reaction they get.

It's not just the grain. The UHE had the gamma boosted something fierce (for the 3D) so it was like a haunted house movie with the lights on. Totally ruined the look.

Any guess when the pre-order might go up? When was Die Hard announced vs. the release date?

Thanks to anyone who might have an idea.
