Super news! It's probably in my top 5 list of most wanted 4k releases. I hope they can give us an extended cut with all the noise about deleted scenes (including Akira Takarada). Nothing like an Ogata to go with our Serizawa

Why the hell they delayed the 4k disc release for so long? Absolutely loved this movie, the HDR and Atmos should do wonders here.

This movie was a bit meh to me but I adore the MUTO’s look and audio design, at least from memory. Obviously picking up every one of these upcoming Warner releases.

I finally finished my slipcover collection for all the Hollywood 4k modern Godzilla and Kong movies. Can't wait to replace my 2014 Godzilla with the 4k and then one day add Kong vs Godzilla too.

For me, personally, I'll never forget the trailers for this film. They hyped me up so much that I thought this was going to be the greatest Godzilla film ever made. It was such a letdown when I finally saw it though. Then I watched it two more times, with one viewing as recent as a few months ago, and I found myself loving it so much more. Still could've been way better, but with all that hype gone and knowing what to expect, it is way better than when I first saw it. Keep in mind, I loved Skull Island and thoroughly enjoyed KOTM. Can't wait for GvK.

In conclusion, I am really looking forward to the 4K release though.

I think it's going to look and sound reference quality. I'm just a little worried the movie is going to be too dark in places.

I don’t mind dark as long as it’s not crushed, I revel in darkness.

Really hope this is coming by May for GvK's (current fingers crossed) release. I've generally had no issues with the old Blu but given the UHD's I've tested with my new player, there's a lot of potential to be had despite the grim colour palette.

If done well it should look amazing on ANY premium 4K/HDR TV!

I get what you're saying though, I still love my OLED. Seeing dark sequences with proper blacks also gets me giddy.

Because of the darkness of the film, -which was even a bit of a problem in the theater, as I recall, -I didn't watch the blu-ray until I got a new 4K display a few years back. A proper 4K disc would handle both the darkness and Godzilla's white-hot breath.

Totally agree. I saw this in IMAX and as awesome as the picture was the Atmos soundtrack was out of this world.

That's what people thought at the release of Kong:SI and Kotm but never eventuated. They could've released it well before to tie in with GvK but waited for so long. But regardless hope the leak is true.

Hoping we get full bandwidth Atmos. The DTS-HD MA I think was clipped around 23 Hz.
