The Blu-ray is still sitting in place of the movie DVD in the 4-disc Korean Superbit Deluxe set that I bought years ago (see guys, it's not just putting 4Ks into Blu-ray cases that I do, I put Blus into DVD cases as well, bwahahahahahaaaaaaaa) so while it'll be nice to have everything in one package I can't see Sony going overboard with the packed-in Blu-ray. If there's no sign of a standalone Blu re-release for BHD then it'll likely be the same old MPEG-2 disc as before in the 4K package.

They *might* do a Patriot though and put the rest of the missing extras from disc 3 of the DVD set - the Blu containing the main "Essence of Combat" documentary & audio commentaries and not much else - onto the 4K disc so that would be one way to get a more complete package.

...I once tried putting some of my DVD's into my VHS cases but didn't quite work out as planned

oh man love that cover, got UK steelbook with that art too... this news made my day, on blu has amazing grain and the audio mix of those gun shots are super awesome, now imagining hear it in all its Atmos glory.... can't wait...

While I was never the biggest fan of the movie, i'll have to buy this on general principle. It will no doubt look and sound amazeballs. No better way to revisit and reappraise a movie than on a shiny new UHD disc served by the finest AV chef in the business - Sony.

It's pretty good. Based on the book and from what I remember reading it years ago it's pretty faithful?

Not many modern era war flicks out so we gotta take what we can get but it's not over done and MAGA patriotic if that's what you're wondering.

It is faithful to the book. We Were Soldiers is another war film in recent years that is faithful to the book.

I prefer factual look at a crisis instead of Propaganda, that it what I was referring to. I'm sure Sony will do a good job with the transfer.

This one is pretty good at showing what really happened. They don't say that Clinton made the decision not to send tanks and APCs, but they do mention that they were deemed too "high profile." To this day I still say he got those guys killed because he denied those Abrams and APCs.

It is almost non-stop military action (ie. gun fights, battles, chaos), not in a "cartooish" way, but the timeline of the battle was very compressed with not much time to breath in between. Not to suggest the film is a 100% accurate re-enactment, but I bet the pacing was an intentional choice by the filmmakers to reflect the actual historical situation.

I've always enjoyed this film, although I wouldn't call it "great" in the traditional sense of a dramatic film. This one is more about action and set-pieces, which are all exceptionally well done IMO. Should be reference UHD material I would think.
