Im pretty bummed about that too. Not sure how that will work. Its like Black Sabbath without Ozzy or something like that. The original is a pure classic. I never got much out GB 2 though. I dunno.

I dont see how this ends up good but whatever.

Ghostbusters II would be truly great.

If...

..the 'Busters didn't get drawn into the central plot point by way of Dana accidentally being the one in peril from it.... again

...the ' Busters didn't getting a raw deal and put in the slammer just prior to everything going nuts .... again

But mainly if the big showdown and the denouement (Lady Liberty aside) wasn't utterly lame and cheesy in comparison with the first movie.

Throw in some decent practical effects and I'm in.
You agree with everything i said that the franchise died with ramis? any film not made by Ramis is a shitty cash grab.

Can't we just have something new and fresh cinematic franchises like John Wick for example and let older franchises rest in peace? afterall some old cinematic franchises earned their retirement like Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters is already a dead cinematic franchise and GB 2016 aka Ballbusters was a zombiefied corpse and so is this franchise on film as it's like a recessative zombie corpse that needs to be shot in the head so it won't shuffle around anymore from film in search of new life.

Being a fan of this franchise is like having a beloved pet you had memories with and grew up with, but sadly the time has come to put it to sleep. like having a beloved childhood/teenhood friend who’s been on life support for years and you’ve accepted they’re gone so you’re just waiting for someone to realize they need to pull the plug on them.

I had no problem with Ghostbusters (2016). I thought the cast and directing was great. One of the better movies of that year. They could make a sequel to that and I'd be fine (they won't). Or they could make a sequel to the original with the original cast and I'd be fine (they won't). The Idea they're too old is nonsense. Some of my favorite musical artists are still making great music and they're getting on in years. I hope they never stop. You're never too old to do what you want.

Even Rodneyfaile in a Ghostbusters costume is a better homage than what 2016 Ghostbusters is to the original Ghostbusters movies.

That's fine. It's still better than all X-Men movies.

Dan Aykroyd Says Ghostbusters Reboot Won’t Get A Sequel, Blames Paul Feig

Quote:
2016’s Ghostbusters certainly didn’t make the impact that Sony was hoping for. The studio must have thought they were onto a winner by revitalizing a beloved franchise and recasting it with all-female leads when such a thing was becoming more common. Unfortunately though, the casting decisions were lambasted by certain people on social media and the movie, when it eventually came out, earned lacking reviews and its box office take fell far below what was expected.

Director Paul Feig has remained hopeful that a sequel may still happen, though, saying as recently as April that he’d love to return to the franchise. However, it seems the decision has been taken out of his hands. Original star and co-creator of the series, Dan Aykroyd has revealed that there will categorically not be another movie following the reboot. He was very frank about the reason why as well: it’s because Feig spent too much money on the movie.

Now let me say this about the girls movie that they made. It was really good. And [director] Paul Feig made a good movie, and there are some great things in it and the girls are great in it. I was mad at him because he cost too much. I don’t want to slag a fellow artist, but had it cost a little less and had he listened to some of our suggestions on budget then there might have been another girls movie. That would have been great. I’m sorry that’s not happening because… boy, they were terrific Ghostbusters, Kate [McKinnon] and Melissa [McCarthy] and Leslie [Jones] were just great, and Kristen Wiig of course. I love those women. I love their performances. I wished for them that they would have been able to make another one."

Clearly, Aykroyd would have been interested in pursuing more films with McCarthy and the rest of the rebooted cast, as he makes a point of saying how much he liked them in the movie, but the overspending he attributes to Feig on the production means that he and the studio have sworn off green-lighting another one.

It’s somewhat of a shame, too, as Feig previously revealed what he wanted to do with the sequel and his ideas sound intriguing. Apparently, he wanted to take the Ghostbusters international and explore the ghosts haunting the rest of the world away from New York. Presumably, Aykroyd and the studio would have been interested in expanding the scope of the franchise in this way but alas, it was not to be.

On the plus side, Aykroyd’s now promising that the franchise is going back to basics and a Ghostbusters 3, perhaps with himself, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson returning, is on the way, and that’s certainly more exciting than a sequel for Feig’s film, wouldn’t you say?

I think the Ghostbusters we know and love is done. We don't need to see Dan, Bill and Ernie on the screen anymore. They could have past the torch with the last movie.

But should they continue? People weren't exactly thrilled with The Next Generation's announcement. They resisted, so if there's a decent story to tell I think there's life in it still. They might surprise us.

It might be a half-assed film but to me the franchise is DEAD and needs to be buried from film, No Ramis, no Ghostbusters, period.

Let's all move on and try new franchises.

I'm not going to trash the remake film, as after all the noise and controversy about the film died down, it was just... okay. It was neither worth making, nor was it worth all the gnashing of teeth. It was basically a C grade film with a few funny scattered moments that just happened to rehash the Ghostbusters plot. Paul Feig makes better movies like Bridesmaids and Spy when he's unencumbered with a studio tentpole PG-13 film.

I'd be down with a Ghostbusters 3, disregarding the remake and just doing what they should have done in the first place with the original cast. Just make it good!
